Vice President Kamala Harris has long struggled to remain coherent when delivering off-the-cuff remarks, with critics often deriding her comments as "word salad."

That trait was on display this week when Harris was caught relying on a script and real-time coaching to answer a simple question.

As Breitbart reported, the vice president was being interviewed by podcast host Dr. Mike Varshavski when he asked about inflation.

Specifically, Varshavski asked Harris if she had "any plans to perhaps bring down prices of these whole foods, groceries, making sure that they're widely available."

Kamala oscillates between looking at her pre-written script and her handlers as she tries to explain how she'd lower grocery prices (up 25%+ since she took office).

"Well, one of, one area of focus for me is, without any question — in fact, it’s my highest priority — is bringing down the cost of living, period, which includes the cost of groceries," Harris said while conspicuously looking down at a script.

"One area of focus for me has been…" the candidate said before stopping upon hearing the sound of a quiet knock somewhere in the background.

Candidate appears to be guided by handlers

Harris then proceeded to look off to her left side and then brought up the issue of  "price gouging," linking it with recent hurricanes.

"And as you know, you probably have a lot of people who watch you, who live in those states that were affected by Hurricane Helene and Milton — and what I have experienced as a former Attorney General of California is during these extreme emergency situations — there are predatory practices, including jacking up prices for things like food, to take advantage of people who are in distress," she stated.

A clip of Harris speaking was subsequently uploaded to social media by the Trump campaign, which stated, "Kamala oscillates between looking at her pre-written script and her handlers as she tries to explain how she’d lower grocery prices (up 25%+ since she took office)."

"The only answer she could muster was addressing prices during hurricanes," the former president's campaign went on to add.

Harris grew disjointed in Nevada rally

This far from being the first time Harris has had difficulty keeping her message on track, as Fox News reported last week that she sounded confused when a speech in Nevada was interrupted by heckling.

"We are here because we are fighting for a democracy," she yelled. "Fighting for a democracy. And understand the difference here, understand the difference here, moving forward, moving forward, understand the difference here."

"What we are looking at is a difference in this election, let's move forward and see where we are because on the issue, for example, freedom of choice," Harris further asserted.
