Significant percentage of women under 30 voted for Trump

There has been a lot of talk about women voting against President-Elect Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.

Breitbart News reports that what many are missing, however, is the fact that a significant percentage of women under 30 years old actually voted for Trump and against Vice President Kamala Harris.

Trump, in fact, did quite well with the younger generations. One can ever argue that they played a significant role in propelling him to his landslide victory over Harris - a victory in which he commandingly won the Electoral College Vote and the popular vote.

On the flip side, Harris's attempt to appeal to young voters clearly did not work as well as she was hoping.

The numbers

The Dail Mail reports on the details of the situation, which it has referred to as a "voter shift."

"As Kamala Harris reels in shock from her brutal defeat to Donald Trump, a voter shift has emerged that perhaps stings the Democratic candidate the most. ," the outlet reports.

It continues, "Young Gen Z women, widely considered Harris' safest demographic, turned their backs on the Democrats in droves to support Donald Trump. Exit polling from AP reveals 40 percent of women under 30 voted for Trump."

A massive shift

To help to provide some perspective on the situation, the outlet reports, "The youngest of them, aged 18 to 24, fled Harris in greater numbers with Trump gaining 11 points on his contest with Joe Biden."

This according to the Daily Mail is the " largest portion of voters under 30" that a Republican candidate has received since 2008.

Hillary Clinton, in 2016, for example, actually scored 19 percentage points better than Trump with this demographic. Biden did even better in 2020, with a 25-point victory. Harris, however, only managed a 6 percentage point win.

It is not just young women flocking to Trump

Young men - and men in general - also largely voted for Trump in the 2024 presidential election. This, of course, is less surprising, but no less true.

The Dail Mail separately reported:

This election cycle was the first time a Republican presidential candidate honed in on the 'bro vote'. Trump won the presidency with 54 per cent of men voting for him, up slightly from the 51 percent that supported him in 2020, according to exit polling.

The Trump campaign attributes some of this success to Trump's youngest son, Barron Trump, who advised his father to do some podcasts that are popular with males and with the younger generation.

This big question going forward will be whether Republicans can hold these gains without Trump running.
