One of the most exciting things about President-elect Donald Trump's incredible victory over Vice President Kamala Harris is who he will ultimately select to lead key roles in his upcoming administration.

Trump has already selected several heavy-hitters for certain roles, and speculation continues as to who he might choose for his attorney general, which will undoubtedly have major implications for Trump's legal future.

According to the Washington Examiner, Trump has a deep bench of potential AGs that not only would his supporters love, but would be instrumental in helping quash all of the political lawfare he still faces.

Several high-profile names have been floated as potential Trump AGs.

Who are they?

The first name reported by the outlet is John Ratcliffe, former director of national intelligence and ex-congressman. A Trump loyalist, Ratcliffe is a popular option for AG, and would undoubtedly help Trump on the legal front.

Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) is another top option for the coveted AG spot.

The Examiner noted:

A former clerk to Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito with deep constitutional expertise, Lee has criticized the criminal cases against Trump, labeling them as politically motivated. His legal acumen and alignment with Trump’s views position him as a strategic choice for attorney general.

The only problem with Lee is that taking him out of the Senate could potentially jeopardized the new GOP majority in the upper chamber.

The "firebrand" potential AG choice would be Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, one of Trump's top allies.

The outlet noted:

He recently filed an amicus brief supporting arguments that special counsel Jack Smith’s appointment was unlawful.

Throughout President Joe Biden’s term, Paxton has fought the Biden administration’s open border policy, lining him up with Trump’s stance on the border.

Additional possibilities

Noted in the report are several additional potential Trump AG picks, including Matt Whitaker, who served as acting attorney general during Trump’s first term.

Obviously, Whitaker's main strength aside from loyalty to Trump is the fact that he knows the inner workings of the DOJ, which could certainly come in handy for many reasons.

Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-MO) is another strong possible Trump AG. He previously served as Missouri's attorney general and has the resume for the job. He's extremely loyal to Trump and made many campaign trail appearances.

Only time will tell who he ultimately selects.
