Joe Rogan says he'll interview Trump at Mar-a-Lago
The well-known podcaster Joe Rogan recently suggested that he will record a podcast with President-Elect Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago.
The New York Post reports that Rogan made the suggestion on Thursday.
It is the context, here, that is particularly interesting, and the context is that, ordinarily, Rogan does not like to take his podcast on the road. In fact, reports indicated that he refused to travel to do an interview with Vice President Kamala Harris before the 2024 election.
It would appear, however, that Rogan is going to make an exception for Trump.
The latest
Recently, Rogan had comedian Ari Shaffir on his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. There, Shaffer asked Rogan about taking a trip to Mar-a-Lago to do another podcast with Trump.
"Yeah, we have to. We helped Trump get elected," Rogan said.
The Daily Beast reports:
Shaffir suggested that the session could take place on Jan. 14, when his Netflix comedy special is set to release. “Can we get together?” Shaffir asked. “Trump’s obviously going to walk on,” he added, to which Rogan and comedian Shane Gillis enthusiastically agreed. “One hundred percent,” Rogan said. “He’s gonna walk on if we do Mar-a-Lago.”
This, of course, would be about a week before Trump gets sworn in as the next president of the United States.
Whether or not it will actually happen is unclear. Trump, at the time of this writing, has not weighed in on the subject.
Background
Many believe that Trump's three-hour appearance on Rogan's podcast, before the 2024 election, helped Trump to win. Rogan, of course, does have a very large following, and exit polls have suggested that Trump did extremely well with individuals who would be in Rogan's listener demographic.
Harris, for her part, never made it onto Rogan's podcast. Rogan has explained why.
Rogan, in part, revealed:
They had requirements on things she didn’t want to talk about. She didn’t want to talk about marijuana legalization — which I thought was hilarious. She put a lot of people in jail for weed — 1,500 apparently, allegedly.
Rogan also revealed that Harris's people wanted the show to be much shorter than the three or more hours that Rogan is accustomed to. And, finally, Rogan revealed that Harris's people want him to travel to them to host the show where they were staying at the time.
This, according to Rogan, is why Harris never appeared on the podcast. Others, however, argue that Harris never appeared because her advisors wouldn't let her.
