Even after more than three weeks have passed since the day of the election, the presidential campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris is still sending multiple emails each day to supporters in an effort to solicit financial assistance.

The emails, the most recent of which was sent on Tuesday night, employ a variety of strategies in order to solicit financial contributions, as The New York Post reported.

These strategies include shaming supporters for allegedly encouraging President-elect Donald Trump to take office and claiming that the funds will be used to fund recounts, despite the fact that organizations such as the Associated Press have already declared that control of the White House and Congress has already been called into question.

The torrent of fundraising emails that Harris has been receiving comes in the midst of reports that her campaign was able to spend $1.5 billion in just 15 weeks and that it finished the election cycle with a debt of at least $20 million.

From the Requests

“Can we count on you to contribute $50, or whatever feels right to you, to support the Harris Fight Fund program to make sure we count every vote in these final races and hold Trump accountable?” one recent fundraising appeal read.

”Over the past few weeks, we have been in the states helping finish out recounts and making sure that every vote is counted. But the reality is, we need to see another surge of donations to allow us to continue building the foundation of resources needed to hold Trump accountable these next four years,” another states.

A small portion of the total contributions are going to an account dubbed "Harris for President's Recount Account," even though the Harris campaign offers recounts as an incentive for donations.

Despite the account's designation, the campaign is not obligated to spend the funds on recount efforts rather than, say, paying off debt.

Funds For the DNC

According to the fine print of the donation portal, the majority of the funds that are contributed to the "Harris Fight Fund" will really go to the Democratic National Committee and the state-level affiliates of the Democratic Party.

Even while the federal election commission says the DNC might use Harris Fight Fund money to promote Democratic federal candidates in a recount, that doesn't mean they have to.

Harris has the option to run for president again in 2028 with any leftover money in her campaign account. According to reports, Harris has informed her supporters that she is considering running for president again.

“I just have to remind you, don’t you ever let anyone take your power from you,” Harris said in a video posted to the Democratic Party’s X account on Tuesday. “You have the same power that you did before Nov. 5.”

The Appeal

A plethora of appeals that contain cautions over the people Trump has appointed to his cabinet, such as Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Project 2025 from the Heritage Foundation.

However the emails seem to be at least slightly self-aware, including the statement, “You probably didn’t think you were going to end your day by giving a donation to support the Harris Fight Fund program.”
