Report: Hunter Biden watched a documentary about his legal troubles after he received broad pardon from his father
On Sunday, convicted felon Hunter Biden was the recipient of a controversial pardon from his father, President Joe Biden, despite the latter's oft-repeated vow not to intervene in his son's legal troubles or help him avoid the consequences of his behavior with executive clemency.
Hunter is reported to have celebrated his good fortune and cleared criminal record by watching a private screening of an as-yet-unreleased documentary about himself and his legal and political issues, according to the New York Post.
That documentary was made by Kevin Morris, a wealthy Hollywood attorney who has bankrolled Hunter for the past several years, including paying off his debts and tax obligations as well as funding his lavish lifestyle -- to the tune of several million dollars.
Biden pardoned his son
It was on Sunday that, after several months of insisting he wouldn't do so, President Biden issued a broadly sweeping pardon for his perpetually troubled son Hunter who was set to face sentencing hearings later this month on a pair of separate criminal convictions earlier in the year.
Critics on both the right and the left were quick to point out how bad it looked for the outgoing president to break his repeated promise to not issue a pardon for his son, though it had been widely assumed by many that Biden's vow was worthless and the eventual pardon was inevitable.
That said, many critics were justifiably outraged by the wide-ranging nature of the pardon, as it went far beyond simply clearing Hunter's record of the felony gun charges and tax law violations he'd been convicted of and instead covered all known and unknown federal offenses that he "has committed or may have committed or taken part in during the period from January 1, 2014 through December 1, 2024."
Anonymous source exposes Hunter post-pardon
The Post reported that according to an unnamed source described as being close to the Biden family, Hunter celebrated the news of his pardon by watching a private screening of a documentary about himself and how he has dealt with his criminal issues and partisan attacks from Republicans.
"He’s happy and a huge weight was lifted off which he’s had to carry since his dad got elected," the source said of Hunter and the pardon. "He’s trying to keep a low profile about it. It’s obviously another sign of his privilege in life and doesn’t endear him to anyone."
The source added, "He’s never had to pay for any of his actions in life. Which is why in some ways, they’ve created a monster. Narcissistic and self-serving."
Morris made a documentary about Hunter
The documentary that Hunter reportedly watched was first reported on in January by multiple media outlets, including The Telegraph, and was produced by Hunter's new best friend and benefactor, Hollywood attorney Kevin Morris.
The film ostensibly covers Hunter's purported recovery from a years-long crack cocaine addiction, the attacks he has endured from his father's political opponents, and the years-long federal investigation and now prosecution he has faced as a consequence of his own admitted and alleged criminal acts.
According to the Post, the documentary has been under production for a few years now but very little is known about it, including who worked on it or when it might be publicly released.
Morris is a friend with financial benefits
As for Morris, he reportedly first met and befriended Hunter in 2019 at a fundraiser during President Biden's run for office, and the duo have been nearly inseparable ever since.
For reasons that remain unclear, Morris has also essentially become Hunter's "sugar brother" and has financially assisted the president's son to the tune of nearly $5 million over the past few years, including paying off his past due tax debts and legal expenses, making car and house payments on his behalf, and even giving him a $1.2 million loan in 2020 -- which Hunter is supposed to start paying back with interest beginning next year.
