Jill Biden set to embark on "massive" solo foreign trip next week
First Lady Jill Biden's time in the White House is drawing to a close, with Melania Trump scheduled to take over her position on January 20.
Despite this, Mrs. Biden will be setting out on a "massive" foreign trip in which she will travel alone to multiple countries.
Stops will be made in Italy, the Middle East, and France
That's according to The Washington Times, which noted that the first lady is expected to arrive in Italy this coming Wednesday where she will visit the Sicilian village of Gesso.
The newspaper pointed out that Mrs. Biden is the first person of Italian ethnicity to become first lady and Gesso is the home of her ancestors.
From there, the first lady will head over to the Middle East, with stops arranged in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as well as Qatar.
Her itinerary includes a meeting with Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, who serves as chairwoman of the General Women’s Union and the Family Development Foundation in Abu Dhabi.
First lady and president-elect will attend Notre Dame Cathedral reopening
What's more, she is planning to attend a royal dinner banquet to be hosted at the Al-Wajba Palace in Doha by Sheikha Moza bint Nasser.
That event is being held in honor of the wedding between Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and Sheikha Fatima bint Nasser bint Hassan Al Thani.

Mrs. Biden's journey will then take her to Paris before she finally returns home. While in Paris, the first lady will be present for the opening of the historic Notre Dame Cathedral, which was wracked by a massive fire five years ago.
Notre Dame Cathedral's reopening will also be attended by President-elect Donald Trump, who was in office when the fire took place.
Source says Mrs. Biden helped convinced husband to pardon his son
The first lady's travel schedule isn't the only reason why she has made headlines in recent days, as a new report suggests that she played an important role in President Joe Biden's decision to pardon his son Hunter.
The Daily Mail cited an unnamed source said to be familiar with the matter as stating that Hunter Biden "has no greater defender than Jill."
Hunter Biden's pardon has proven to be highly controversial, with even some members of the left expressing dissatisfaction over it.
