Trump hires attorney Alina Habba as counselor to the president
For much of the past month, President-elect Donald Trump has been naming figures who he would like to serve in his new administration.
That trend continued this past weekend when Trump revealed that attorney Alina Habba is being hired as counselor to the president.
Trump: "Alina has been a tireless advocate for justice"
According to Breitbart, Trump made the news public in a social media post on Sunday, writing, "I am pleased to announce that Alina Habba will join my White House Team as Counselor to the President."
"Alina has been a tireless advocate for Justice, a fierce Defender of the Rule of Law, and an invaluable Advisor to my Campaign and Transition Team," he continued.
"She has been unwavering in her loyalty, and unmatched in her resolve – standing with me through numerous ‘trials,’ battles, and countless days in Court," the president-elect stressed.
"Few understand the Weaponization of the ‘Injustice’ System better than Alina, who has fought relentlessly against the full force of Lawfare with courage and an unshakable commitment to Justice," Trump declared.
He went on to say that "[a]s a first generation American of Middle Eastern Heritage, she has become a role model for women in Law and Politics, most recently being named Chaldean Woman of the Year."
Habba is the daughter of Middle East Christians who fled from Iraq
For her part, Habba reacted with gratitude to Trump's announcement in a social media post of her own, writing, "Honor of my life to serve the 45th and 47th President and the American people."

The BBC noted that Habba is originally from New Jersey and is the daughter of Chaldean Catholic parents who fled from Iraq four decades ago.
She obtained her law degree from Pennsylvania's Widener University in 2010 and briefly served as a clerk to then-New Jersey Superior Court Judge Eugene Codey Jr.
Lawyer began representing Trump in 2021
The 40-year-old mother-of-free went on to pursue a career in private practice and subsequently founded her own law firm in 2020.
Habba began doing legal work on behalf of Trump in 2021, including the New York hush-money case brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
She also drew attention for repeatedly clashing with Judge Lewis Kaplan, who oversaw the defamation case filed earlier this year against Trump by author E. Jean Carroll.
