Police continue working on 28-year-old murder of JonBenét Ramsey
Americans were left horrified nearly three decades ago when 6-year-old child beauty contestant JonBenét Ramsey was murdered.
While law enforcement officials have yet to make an arrest in the stunning case, several individuals still have their attention.
Boulder Police Department source: "We’re open to any possibilities to solve the case"
That's according to the New York Post, which cited a Boulder Police Department source who recently told the newspaper, "Nothing's off the table. We’re open to any possibilities to solve the case."
The Post noted that although members of the Ramsey family were long viewed with suspicion, as some observers suggested that JonBenét's mother, Patsy, authored a ransom note which demanded $118,000 in exchange for her safe return.
Another person of interest was the victim's older brother, Burke, as there was speculation that he accidentally killed her during a fight.
However, the Boulder District Attorney's Office announced in July of 2008 that members of the Ramsey family were no longer being regarded as suspects.
Focus shifts from family members to former California teacher
That announcement was partly influenced by the discovery of DNA from an unknown male on JonBenét's clothing. A police source told the Post that Ramsey's family members have not been the focus of an investigation for some time.

Someone who apparently does have the interest of local law enforcement is John Mark Karr, Another police source was quoted as saying, "To me, he’s still the one who might have gotten away. Something about the guy still seems fishy to me."
As the Post explained, Karr is a former substitute teacher who fled from the United States in 2001 to avoid child pornography charges.
Karr claimed to have be with the victim on the night of her death
He was extradited back to California in 2006 after being arrested in Bangkok, Thailand but a judge ultimately dismissed his case.
Karr at one point began communicating with independent journalist Michael Tracey and provided details about JonBenét' murder that were largely unknown to the public.
Nevertheless, Karr's DNA did not match the same found at JonBenét's crime scene and his ex-wife put forward an alibi to account for his whereabouts. Despite this, Karr claimed that he was with JonBenét on the night of her death and has implied he may be protecting someone.
