President-elect Donald Trump came out of Election Day swinging -- vowing to come through on a long list of promises he made on the campaign trail, with some revolving around Jan. 6 defendants.

According to Reuters and other outlets, during a recent "Meet the Press" interview, Trump said with confidence that on Day One he'll announce pardons for certain J6 defendants.

Trump had hinted at the idea several times on the campaign trail, as he, like others, believe that many of the J6 participants who have been charged and jailed have been treated unfairly by the law.

Not surprisingly, the left and liberal media types were seething over Trump's announcement.

What did he say?

Talking with NBC News' Kristen Welker, Trump held nothing back after he was asked if he was considering pardoning any of the J6 defendants, even adding that he'll be acting "quickly" on the matter.

"I'm going to be acting very quickly, first day," Trump told Welker, adding that he'll make some "exceptions" for the more egregious cases.

Reuters noted:

Trump told Welker that there could be "some exceptions" to his pardons if the individuals had acted "radical" or "crazy" during the assault, which left more than 140 police officers injured and led to several deaths.

"I'm going to look at everything. We're going to look at individual cases," Trump said, adding that he's not opposed to pardoning hundreds of J6 defendants who have already pleaded guilty.

Many of the J6 defendants have publicly expressed hope that Trump will pardon them, and that possibility seemed to have grown after President Joe Biden stunned the nation and pardoned his son, Hunter Biden.

Social media reacts

Users across social media offered mixed reactions to Trump's announcement, with his supporters backing it and his detractors throwing fits over the possibility.

"This is so needed. If Hunter gets a 10-year pardon for actual crime, then at least the non-violent J6ers should be free. Pardon them," one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "Great news! Trump's commitment to justice is unwavering. Those unfairly detained for exercising their rights on Jan 6 deserve freedom. Pardoning them on day one will be a powerful statement against the deep state's overreach."

Only time will tell how many defendants Trump will pardon, but it'll surely cause a firestorm on the left.
