Fired Fox News anchor Ed Henry's lawyers release new text messages that could 'unravel' rape allegations
Former Fox News co-host Ed Henry, who helped anchor "America's Newsroom," was fired from the cable news network in July of 2020 after sexual misconduct allegations by a then-unnamed Fox employee.
Ultimately, it was revealed that the employee who made the claims was Jennifer Eckhart, who claimed Henry raped and beat her, which sparked a long investigation into the matter.
According to the Daily Mail, shocking new information regarding the case has been released by Henry's lawyers, which included a series of "kinky" texts Eckhart allegedly sent Henry after the alleged rape occurred.
The text messages were described as "raunchy" as Henry's legal defense is set on proving that the sexual encounter between the two, which allegedly took place in 2017, was consensual in nature.
What happened?
Eckhart, a Fox Business associate producer at the time, accused Henry of raping, beating, and handcuffing her during a sexual encounter in 2017. She claimed the incident happened after a period of "grooming" and "manipulation."
On Monday, Henry's lawyers released a series of texts between the two, which happened after the rape claim, that showed what the Daily Mail described as an "enthusiastic" and 'consensual,' albeit kinky, relationship."
Just days after Eckhart claimed Henry sexually assaulted her, the texts show that she reportedly sent several extremely dirty and raunchy messages to Henry asking for another sexual encounter.
The text messages were revealed in a legal filing.
The Daily Mail noted:
The legal filing said they had sadomasochistic, kinky sex on February 10, 2017, that was prompted by Eckhart's 'highly provocative sexting.' The physical encounter involved Henry hitting her with a belt, and restraining her with handcuffs.
The outlet added:
The new court papers also described 15 naked and explicit photos she allegedly sent Henry, who co-hosted the show America's Newsroom, in the two weeks after the alleged rape.
Five of the 15 photos were not of her, but other women, Henry's new motion stated.
Cherry-picked messages?
Henry's lawyers claimed that Eckhart's messages she included in the rape allegation were hand-picked to satisfy her claim.
"All the WhatsApp messages preserved for litigation are selectively chosen photographs of a portion of Jennifer's communications with Ed," Henry's lawyers wrote in the filing.
They added, "Many of these messages, including most of the ones Jennifer thinks are incriminating, have been cut off to obscure a final comment by Jennifer expressing pleasure, agreement or desire."
Henry, this week, pinned the Daily Mail story to the top of his X account, noting the headline indicates the rape case may "unravel" as a result of the new text messages released.
