White House tries to sell border wall parts before Trump gets there
President Joe Biden is currently trying to sell materials that the government purchased for the building of the U.S.-Mexico border wall, the New York Post reports.
It is no coincidence that this is happening just before President-Elect Donald Trump is about to enter the Oval Office.
Trump, of course, made big progress on the border wall - despite opposition from the Democrats - during his first term, and he is looking to finish off what he started in his upcoming term.
It would appear, however, that the Biden White House is currently trying to do whatever it can to slow Trump down - or even stop him.
The details
The initial reporting on this story came from the Daily Wire.
Per the outlet:
The Biden administration is using its final weeks to haul a massive amount of border wall materials away from the southern border to be sold off in a government auction, an apparent effort to hinder President-elect Donald Trump’s effort to secure the border, The Daily Wire has learned.
The outlet actually managed to obtain video from U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents showing "unused sections of the wall being hauled away on the back of flatbed trucks."
"The agent estimates that up to half a mile per day of unused border wall is being moved," the outlet reports.
The question now is whether the White House is going to be able to get away with this.
Texas might come to Trump's rescue
It now appears that the state of Texas is trying to come to Trump's rescue.
According to Breitbart News, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (R-TX) has actually suggested that Texas might buy the materials from Biden and then hand them over to Trump once Trump takes office.
"I don’t know if you heard the latest today, Laura, but Joe Biden is now hauling off the border wall that’s been lying down for years and he wants to auction it off starting at $5 a piece," Patrick said during a recent appearance on the Fox News Channel's The Ingraham Angle, with Laura Ingraham.
He continued:
Message to the White House right now, I will bid on all of that wall and we will buy it in Texas and we will give it to Donald Trump. So, I’m going to find out first thing in the morning where are we going to take the bid. I’ve got a billion dollars in my pocket to do it. I write the budget with Senator John Huffman. We have the money. We’re going to have about $6 billion in our budget for border security. We’ll buy it.
We'll have to see if Texas follows through on this. If it does, this would be a big win for Trump.
