Trump demands answers from Biden admin on mysterious drone sightings, or else 'shoot them down'
Over the past several days and weeks, there have been countless sightings of mysterious unidentified drones hovering and maneuvering over multiple East Coast states at night, with no official explanation of what they are, where they are from, or what they are doing.
President-elect Donald Trump mentioned the drone sightings on Friday and demanded that the federal government either inform the public of everything known about them or else begin shooting them down, Breitbart reported.
But the government has not yet taken any overt actions against the drones or shared what is known about them with the public, though officials have insisted that they pose no known threat and are nothing for the public to be worried about.
Trump, others, demand answers about unidentified drone sightings
In a Truth Social post on Friday, President-elect Trump wrote, "Mystery Drone sightings all over the Country. Can this really be happening without our government’s knowledge. I don’t think so!"
The incoming president added, "Let the public know, and now. Otherwise, shoot them down!!!"
Trump is far from alone in demanding answers about the swarms of unidentified drones seen over multiple states along the East Coast and elsewhere, as dozens of federal, state, and local officials, including law enforcement and politicians, are insisting that information be released and action be taken to address them.
That includes Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), who said Wednesday during a CNN appearance, "I don’t know what’s going on and neither do the agencies who have responsibility for it. And that’s why I’ve demanded answers from them. At the very least, to tell us what they are doing to determine what’s going on."
"(T)here’s no explanation for why these agencies -- the FAA, the Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security, and others like the FBI -- have no knowledge about apparently any of these drones and now there are hundreds of them," the senator added. "People are texting me, constituents are alarmed. I am alarmed as well, as much by the lack of disclosure and transparency as the suspicion about what may be going on."
Pentagon insists drones aren't from "foreign entity" or U.S. military
Breitbart reported earlier this week that Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) claimed that he'd learned from "very high sources, very qualified sources, very responsible sources," that the drones were originating from an Iranian "mothership" parked somewhere off the East Coast, though that theory was rejected and denied by a Pentagon spokesperson, along with the possibility that the unidentified objects are new and classified unmanned aerial vehicles being tested by the U.S. military.
"There is not any truth to that. There is no Iranian ship off the coast of the United States, and there’s no so-called mothership launching drones towards the United States," Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh told reporters on Wednesday, and noted that there was "no evidence" to suggest the drones were "coming from a foreign entity" or being operated by the U.S. military.
She added, "We’re going to continue to monitor what is happening, but at no point were our installations threatened when this activity was occurring."
FBI, DHS, and White House all dismiss unidentified drone sightings as non-threat
In a joint statement on Thursday, the FBI and DHS said, "We have no evidence at this time that the reported drone sightings pose a national security or public safety threat or have a foreign nexus," though the potential for a threat is being taken "seriously" and an investigation is ongoing.
Also on Thursday, National Security Council spokesman John Kirby similarly downplayed the possible threat posed by the swarms of unidentified drones while speaking to reporters during a White House press briefing.
Pressed about the dismissive statements about the drones not posing a threat despite growing public concerns, Kirby said, "I would remind you, we’re at the beginning here, not the end. There’s a lot more work to be done, and we’re working closely with the state and local authorities to gain more information," and added, "If information comes to light that changes that characterization, then, my goodness, you know, we’ll be the first ones to let you know. But right now, there’s just no indication that this is some sort of foreign malign activity or, in fact, even criminal. "
