Melania Trump puts an end to the rumors about whether she'll be joining her husband in the White House
Incoming First Lady Melania Trump has recently put an end to the rumors that she will not be joining her husband in the White House, when he once again enters the Oval Office following his inauguration.
The Daily Mail reports that it was actually President-Elect Donald Trump who recently released a statement on the issue.
In that statement, Trump made it clear that his wife will be joining him this time around, just as she did during his first administration.
First, we will look at why it is that Trump had to even address this question.
The rumors
In recent months, reports have been published claiming that Mrs. Trump will not be moving into the White House with her husband. One such report came from CNN.
Per the outlet:
Melania Trump is unlikely to move to Washington full time in her second go-round as first lady, multiple sources told CNN, once more showing signs of her willingness to buck tradition as she returns to her high-profile but unelected role on the world stage. Discussions about how and where she’ll spend her time are ongoing, the sources said.
In terms of "bucking traditions," the outlet was probably referring to the fact that Mrs. Trump decided to skip her meeting with First Lady Jill Biden.
It, of course, is a custom for the current and incoming first ladies to meet, but Melania decided not to participate in this tradition, and she probably had a good reason for doing so.
But, it is reports like these that led to the speculation that Trump would be entering the White House without his wife.
It's not true
Trump responded to the rumors during a recent interview that he did with Time magazine. This was the interview that he did after being named by the magazine as the person of the year.
The Daily Mail reports:
When Time asked if his wife would join him at the White House, Trump replied: 'Oh yes.' He pointed to how active she was in the final weeks of his presidential campaign.
The outlet went on to quote Trump as saying:
She was, she was very, she actually became very active towards the end, as you saw with interviews. And she does—she does them well. People really watch. She's very beloved by the people, Melania.
This does, indeed, seem to be the case.
So, this should finally settle it: Mrs. Trump will be joining her husband in the White House.
