President-elect Trump says no expectations for DeSantis to pick Lara Trump for Senate seat
President-elect Donald Trump tapped Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) to be his next Secretary of State, and as a result, Rubio's Senate seat will have to be filled, which will be a decision made by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R).
Rumors have swirled that Lara Trump, who took a high-level position with the Republican National Committee, will be selected by DeSantis to fill the empty Senate seat, but according to reports, the president-elect doesn't have any expectations.
The New York Post reported that Trump recently indicated that there's no pressure on DeSantis to pick his daughter-in-law for the job.
Trump was recently asked at a press conference at Mar-a-Lago if he expected DeSantis to give Lara Trump the job, saying in his response, "No, I don't."
What's going on?
Trump, once bitter campaign rivals with DeSantis, praised the Florida governor in the rest of his response to the reporter's question about Lara Trump, making sure to separate himself from the process.
"But I don’t know," the incoming president added. “Ron’s doing a good job, that’s his choice — nothing to do with me."
However, that didn't stop the proud father-in-law from heaping praise and compliments on Lara Trump, pointing out both her professional and personal lives to emphasize her strong leadership, mentally and physically.
"Lara’s unbelievable," he went on. "She is so highly respected by women. Even her workout routines are through the roof. She lifts 150 pounds. I don’t know how the hell she does it."

Lara Trump is an extremely popular choice, not surprisingly, within Trump's massive base of support to fill the upcoming empty Senate seat.

Another X user wrote, "Lara Trump would do a very fantastic job if she ran in Florida State."
Only time will tell who the Florida governor ultimately selects.
