John Fetterman says he will look at Trumps nominees with an 'open mind'
President-elect Donald Trump has faced loud opposition from Senate Democrats over several of his cabinet nominees.
Yet in a move that is sure to upset many in his own party, Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman said this week that he will approach them with an "open mind."
Fetterman says his stance should not be "controversial"
According to Breitbart, Fetterman made the announcement in a social media post on Tuesday, writing, "I believe that it’s appropriate and the responsibility of a U.S. Senator to have a conversation with President-elect Trump’s nominees."
I believe that it’s appropriate and the responsibility of a U.S. Senator to have a conversation with President-elect Trump's nominees.
That’s why I met with Elise Stefanik and Pete Hegseth, just wrapped with Tulsi Gabbard, and look forward to my meetings with others soon.

Senator defended Trump in a post on Truth Social
This is far from being the first time that Fetterman has broken with other members of his party, as he came to the defense of both Trump and President Joe Biden earlier this month.
"The Trump hush money and Hunter Biden cases were both bulls--t, and pardons are appropriate," Fox News quoted Fetterman as writing in a post on Truth Social, the social media platform which Trump founded.
"Weaponizing the judiciary for blatant, partisan gain diminishes the collective faith in our institutions and sows further division," he added.
The Pennsylvania lawmaker included a screenshot of an MSNBC report which detailed how Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is fighting an attempt by Trump's attorneys to have his hush-money case dismissed.
Fetterman slammed those who celebrated the killing of Brian Thompson
What's more, Fetterman also slammed those on the left who have celebrated the recent murder of health insurance executive Brian Thompson.
"Condoning and cheering this on says more about YOU than the situation of health insurance," the Senate Democrat insisted in an X post on December 7.
Fetterman's statement came not long after former Washington Post contributor Taylor Lorenz told British journalist Piers Morgan that Thompson's killing brought her "joy."
