Fauci under scrutiny for his Georgetown University position

Dr. Anthony Fauci is now facing scrutiny for his position at Georgetown University.

Fox News reports that Fauci is listed as a professor at the university. In fact, he is even a "distinguished university professor."

According to the outlet, however, Fauci does not actually teach at the school.

This has many asking how can he be a "distinguished university professor" if he does not actually teach at the university. You probably do not need too many guesses to answer that one.

 The details

This story was first reported by The College Fix.

Per the outlet:

Dr. Anthony Fauci is a “distinguished university professor” at Georgetown University but does not appear to have taught a single course since his appointment, nor does he have any future classes scheduled.

The outlet then goes on to quote the statement that the university released when it hired Fauci.

It then continues:

It has been a year and a half since the Jesuit Catholic university announced Fauci would have the title at its medical school. He also joined the McCourt School of Public Policy at the same time. It has also been seven months since the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law made him a “distinguished senior scholar.”

Yet, the outlet reports, "The College Fix searched several publicly available course catalogs but found no evidence of classes taught by Fauci. In fact, his name does not even appear as a listed instructor."

What is going on here?

Clearly, things do not seem to add up. It seems undisputed that Fauci has not taught a class at the school. It does appear, though, as if he has done other things.

The Georgetowner, for example, reports that Fauci has "given lectures, seminars, and fireside chats for undergrads and for students and others from the School of Medicine, School of Health, School of Public Policy, Law Center and Walsh School of Foreign Service."

He just has not taught any classes. Georgetown has not responded to the situation.

Fauci clearly has been trying to avoid the spotlight since he was driven out of the federal government. Many continue to try to hold the doctor accountable for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This would include U.S. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), who recently told the Washington Examiner that he is planning to use his new Senate leadership position to do just that - to finally hold Fauci accountable. We'll have to see if Paul is successful.
