A "Saturday Night Live" segment may cause problems in the marriage of one of the program's performers and his A-List Hollywood star wife.

That was the assessment of some social media users after SNL "Weekend Update" co-host Colin Jost was compelled to tell offensive jokes on air about his wife, Scarlett Johansson, that could lead to a divorce, according to the Daily Mail.

The segment in question featured an annual "joke swap" in which Jost and fellow co-host Michael Che read aloud for the first time jokes written for each other by their counterpart that are deliberately intended to push the envelope of acceptability.

Co-host forced to joke about his wife

During the nearly six-minute segment, Jost told several jokes at Johansson's expense that had been written for him by Che, the first of which suggested he was about to leave her following her recent 40th birthday.

He further noted that they'd just recently had a child together but asserted that no pictures of the child were publicly available since the child was "black as hell" and the result of interracial infidelity.

For his final joke written by Che, Jost said, "Costco has removed the roast beef sandwich from its menu, but I ain't tripping. I’ve been eating roast beef every night since my wife had the kid."

Following that crude reference to oral sex and Johansson's intimate female parts, at which the star actress was visibly horrified while watching from backstage, her husband added, "Nah, I'm just playing, baby -- you know I don't go downtown."

Social media reacts to offensive jokes

While the annual joke swap segment had its humorous moments -- to be sure, Che was likewise forced to read embarrassing jokes written for him by Jost about date rape, Jeffrey Epstein, and P. Diddy parties -- not everybody on social media fully grasped the hilarity of the moment and predicted that it might result in a troubled ending for Jost's marriage to Johansson.

One user suggested in response to the video clip that Jost was "one joke away from a divorce" with his wife and added that he is likely now "friends with the couch" in their shared home.

Another user mused, "I can only imagine the car ride home" and added a crying emoji along with a screenshot of Johansson watching her husband crack crude jokes about her genitalia from backstage.

That said, more than a few failed to even understand the jokes or didn't find them to be funny, though many others thought the segment was hilarious and explained to the others how the swapping of jokes worked and likely wouldn't result in any real trouble for Jost and Johansson.

Got married in 2020 and had a son a year later

The Daily Mail noted that Jost, a longtime SNL writer, first met Johansson in 2006 when she hosted the program, though they didn't begin dating until 2017 or get married until 2020, after which they had a son together, Cosmo, in 2021.

It was further noted that the Hollywood actress has a daughter, Rose Dorothy, from her previous marriage to French journalist Romain Dauriac, and prior to that was married to Hollywood superstar Ryan Reynolds from 2008 through 2011.
