A former college football star is now wanted on negligent homicide charges. 

The star, according to ESPN, is Kyren Lacy.

For those unfamiliar with Lacy, he used to be a wide receiver for Louisiana State University.

He now could end up going from the football field to a prison.

Here is what we know:

Lacy is wanted in relation to a hit-and-run.

The New York Post reports:

Officers who responded to the crash allege that Lacy was driving on Louisiana Highway 20 when he began crossing the centerline, driving against oncoming traffic, in an attempt to pass slower vehicles. Driving south in the northbound lane, Lacy forced the driver of a pickup truck to abruptly break and swerve in an attempt to avoid a head-on collision. The pickup truck driver swerved to the right, but a second driver — this one behind the wheel of a Kia — swerved left and across the centerline.

This resulted in a head-on collision with another vehicle.

A passenger in the vehicle was critically injured in the crash. In fact, the individual - Herman Hall, a former Marine - was rushed to the hospital, but doctors were unable to save his life.

So, you may be wondering what happened to Lacy in all of this.

He fled the scene

The Post reports, "Lacy reportedly drove around the crash scene and then fled south. He did not stop, did not call emergency services or report his involvement in the accident to the authorities."

Now, an arrest warrant has been issued for Lacy.

ESPN reports:

Louisiana State Police have issued an arrest warrant for former LSU receiver Kyren Lacy . . . Louisiana State Police said Friday that Lacy will be charged with negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run, and reckless operation of a vehicle. Police said they have been in contact with Lacy and his attorney to turn himself in.

At the time of this writing, it still does not appear as though Lacy has turned himself in.

His legal team has released a statement, saying:

We are aware of the allegations that have been made regarding Kyren Lacy, and we want to take this opportunity to address them. First and foremost, Kyren is fully cooperating with the authorities. We strongly believe that the facts will ultimately demonstrate the truth, but we respect the need for a full and thorough investigation. We recognize the concern and questions that may arise from these recent allegations. To anyone impacted, directly or indirectly, we want to assure that this matter is being taken very seriously, and we are committed to resolving it responsibly.
