During a recent interview with the Washington Examiner, President-elect Donald voiced praise for Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman, calling him "impressive" and "a fascinating man."

Trump may not be the only one who is impressed by Fetterman, as the beneficiaries of an initiative he championed are likely to be pleased as well.

Fetterman's home state to receive over $52 million in infrastructure money

In a press release posted to his official website, the Pennsylvania Democrat unveiled "more than $52 million in federal funding for infrastructure projects across Pennsylvania."

Fetterman explained that the cash is being distributed by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and was set aside under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, a piece of legislation he supported.

The lawmaker noted that the funds will cover "essential upgrades to bridges, sidewalks, roads, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure."

"I came to Washington to get real results for Pennsylvania. Bringing home this $52 million does just that," Fetterman declared.

"These projects will improve the infrastructure we depend on every day—from fixing up rural bridges to making sure all Pennsylvanians can move safely through their neighborhoods—we’re investing in people first, no matter their zip code," he insisted.

Trump touts "fascinating meeting" with "common sense" Fetterman

Fetterman's infrastructure announcement came around the same time that he met with Trump at the president-elect's Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida.

"We had a great meeting," Trump was quoted as telling the Examiner. "He was very impressive. His wife was with him, and she was really fantastic, too," he said.

"It was a totally fascinating meeting. He’s a fascinating man, and his wife is lovely. They were both up, and I couldn’t be more impressed," Trump continued.

The incoming president then went on to characterize Fetterman as being "a commonsense person" who is "not liberal or conservative."

Fetterman defends Trump's interests in acquiring Greenland

For his part, Fetterman raised eyebrows earlier this month when he publicly defended Trump's suggestion that the United States should acquire Greenland.

While appearing on Fox News, Fetterman called for a "responsible conversation" on the matter and recalled how prior presidents had also increased America's size via land purchases, with the Louisiana Territory and Alaska being two examples.
