Trump lays out ambitious agenda for day one of his second term
President-elect Donald Trump is now less than a week away from taking his oath of office and reentering the White House.
While Trump has laid out an ambitious agenda for his second term, the soon-to-be commander-in-chief has said that much of it will play out on day one.
Trump pledges to secure border, begin deportations
That fact was recalled in an article published by Time magazine on Monday, which laid out some of the promises Trump made.
Many of his plans relate to immigration and border security, two topics which he focused on while speaking at a campaign rally in Minnesota this past July.
"On Day One of the Trump presidency, I will restore the travel ban, suspend refugee admissions, stop the resettlement and keep the terrorists the hell out of our country," Trump told his supporters.
The term "travel ban" refers to a set of restrictions on visitors from a list of countries which the president-elect imposed early in his first term.
Although the policy was initially met with legal challenges, the Supreme Court ultimately ruled that it was constitutionally sound.
President-elect promises regulatory reform, more oil and gas drilling
Trump has also indicated that his first day will see the "largest mass deportation operation" in U.S. history begin, with a focus on criminals and recent border crossers.
The president-elect further stated that he will immediately loosen the federal regulatory burden on businesses, especially when it comes to energy production.

"Banning offshore drilling will not stand. I will reverse it immediately," Trump declared earlier this month. "I will revoke the offshore oil, gas drilling ban in vast areas on day one."
What's more, Trump said at an October campaign event, "On Day One, I will sign an executive order directing every federal agency to immediately remove every single burdensome regulation driving up the cost of goods."
Trump says he will handle January 6 rioters in "the first nine minutes"
Another issue which Trump has promised swift action on is the fate of those who were arrested during the January 6 Capitol Hill riot.
"I'll be looking at J6 early on, maybe the first nine minutes," the president-elect told Time magazine in an interview last month.
However, Vice President-elect J.D. Vance recently clarified that pardons will not be available to those who engaged in acts of violence.
