Democrat-turned-Republican Tulsi Gabbard was chosen by President-elect Donald Trump as his next Director of National Intelligence (DNI), which oversees all of America's intelligence and counterintelligence agencies.

According to Breitbart, both Gabbard and Trump received great news this week after she received the complete and total endorsement of the National Sheriff's Association, which urged the U.S. Senate to expeditiously confirm Gabbard.

The powerful and influential association penned a letter saying as much to Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR).

The association heaped praise on Gabbard, noting her service at the local, state, and federal level, along with her high-ranking military leadership experience.

What did they say?

The NSA held nothing back in praising Gabbard and assuring Cotton, and all other senators involved, that President-elect Trump couldn't have picked a more qualified person.

"Ms. Gabbard has demonstrated a commitment to addressing the critical disconnect between our intelligence agencies and local law enforcement in preparing for sophisticated and pervasive threats. The recent terror attack on New Orleans serves as a stark reminder of the need for seamless coordination. In the immediate aftermath of the attack, actionable leads provided by Sheriffs in Harris County, Texas, and Fulton County, Georgia, proved instrumental," the endorsement letter read.

It added, "These events, like the attacks of 9/11, underscore the urgent need for local law enforcement to have a seat at the table during strategic planning discussions. Ms. Gabbard has pledged to make this a priority."

The NSA said that Gabbard had earned the "confidence and respect" of Sheriffs across the United States.

"Ms. Gabbard’s unparalleled experience at the local, state, and federal levels of government, combined with her leadership as a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve, makes her uniquely qualified for this critical role."

It continued, "Her proven ability to lead and her deep understanding of national security threats have earned the confidence and respect of Sheriffs across the country."

Get it done

The NSA, like many others, including Trump, want Gabbard confirmed as quickly as possible given the critical nature of her role as the DNI.

"We urge the Committee to confirm Ms. Gabbard’s nomination expeditiously. Her leadership will strengthen partnerships, rebuild trust, and ensure the security of communities across the country," the NSA's letter concluded.

Trump praised Gabbard when he nominated her for the role.

"For over two decades, Tulsi has fought for our Country and the Freedoms of all Americans. As a former Candidate for the Democrat Presidential Nomination, she has broad support in both Parties – She is now a proud Republican!" Trump said at the time.
