Melania Trump reportedly turned down Jill Biden's offer to have tea
It has long been tradition for an outgoing first lady to bring her successor to the White House for tea prior to inauguration day.
Yet it seems that tradition won't be upheld this year as incoming First Lady Melania Trump reportedly rejected such an offer from First Lady Jill Biden.
Jill Biden: "I congratulated her and I offered help"
That's according to an interview published by the Washington Post on Thursday during which Mrs. Biden also recalled giving a note to President-elect Donald Trump when he visited the White House.
"I congratulated her and I offered help," the first lady said of the note, which she asked Mr. Trump to pass on to his wife.
The first lady claimed not to have heard back from Mrs. Trump until they briefly spoke at former President Jimmy Carter's funeral last week.
Interestingly, the soon-to-be first lady was somewhat evasive when asked by Fox News about whether she had recently interacted with President Joe Biden or First Lady Jill Biden.
Mrs. Trump is ready to move back in
"They’re still living there, and they will be out on January 20," the New York Times quoted Mrs. Trump as telling "Fox & Friends."
She went on to add that the current first couple has only five hours to move out of the White House "so everything needs to be planned to the minute."
However, the president-elect's wife was much more forthcoming when it came to talking about her desire to once again serve as first lady.
"This time I have everything," she asserted. "I have the plans. I could move in. I already packed. I already selected the, you know, furniture that needs to go in."
"I just feel that people didn’t accept me, maybe," Mrs. Trump remarked. "They didn’t understand me the way maybe they do now. And I didn’t have much support."
"I don't want to hire too many people"
She also expressed a desire to help her husband shrink the size of government, stating, "I don't want to hire too many people on my team, spending too much taxpayer money."

"I want to make sure that every position, they are talented, they have merit, they know what they're doing," Mrs. Trump stressed.
