Mike Huckabee says Iran and Hamas should pay to rebuild Gaza
Evidence of President-elect Donald Trump's support for Israel could be seen this past November when he nominated former Arkansas Republican Gov. Mike Huckabee to serve there as America's ambassador.
Huckabee has long been known as a defender of the Jewish state, and he made moves last week to reinforce that reputation.
Huckabee says Iran and Hamas should pay to rebuild Gaza
According to Breitbart, Huckabee told Fox Business host Stuart Varney on Friday that Israel's enemies are the ones who should pay for aid in Gaza.
Specifically, he said that reconstruction efforts are "the responsibility of the people who messed this up, and that was Hamas, funded by the Iranians."
"Gaza is in a mess…because of Hamas," the former Arkansas governor declared. "And Hamas did what they did because of Iran, and they had the funding for it. So, maybe if somebody rebuilds it, it ought to be the Iranians."
Huckabee then pointed to the extensive underground infrastructure which was created in Gaza to shield terrorists and their weapons.
"Maybe they could spend that money on feeding their people"
"If they had enough money to build rockets and bombs and missiles, perhaps they have enough money to rebuild the buildings and houses," he remarked.
"And instead of building tunnels to hide weaponry in and instead of violating every kind of norm of human behavior, maybe they could spend that money on feeding their people, giving them a place to stay, and medical attention," Huckabee insisted.
He concluded by stating, "But that’s the responsibility of the people who messed this up, and that was Hamas, funded by the Iranians. Let us never forget why Gaza is a hellhole right now."
That was far from being Huckabee's only statement in recent days, as this weekend saw him dismiss the idea of an independent Palestinian state.
Huckabee: "Palestinians continue to believe that Israel shouldn't exist"
When asked by Fox News host Brian Kilmeade whether he believes "that a two-state solution is in the future," Huckabee was unequivocal in his response.
Kilmeade: Do you believe that a two state solution is the future?
Huckabee: No. We have to recognize there was a Palestinian state. It was called Gaza. Look how that turned out. pic.twitter.com/GSFZQ3oJvq

"No. We have to recognize there was a Palestinian state. It was called Gaza. Look how that turned out," Huckabee declared.
"You can't have a Palestinian state on top of the Israeli state if the Palestinians continue to believe that Israel shouldn't exist," he added.
