Daughter of Nancy Pelosi Slams ‘Lady McBiden’

Last month, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi shattered her hip, which infuriated Pelosi's family because of the soured relationship between Speaker Pelosi and the Biden family. Neither the outgoing president nor his wife checked in on her.

The discovery, which was made public in a Sunday Politico article, is reflective of the enmity that has persisted between Pelosi and Joe Biden ever since she used public comments to signal her desire for him to withdraw from the presidential race last summer, as Politico reported.

Biden finally stepped down from his re-election bid, but he did so after venting his frustrations with the previous official.

“We were friends for 50 years,” Jill Biden told The Washington Post in a story published last week. “It was disappointing.”

Pelosi's Response

A public response from Pelosi's family was published in Politico and read: "Grow up."

“If I was Lady McBiden, I’d put on my big girl pants, play the long game and think about my husband’s legacy,” filmmaker Alexandra Pelosi, Nancy Pelosi’s daughter, said.

“There aren’t that many people left in America who have something nice to say about Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi is one of them.”

Joe Biden's Take

In the months that have passed since then, however, Biden and his associates have refused to communicate with Pelosi.

The separation was so obvious to Pelosi and her team that they questioned whether or not she would have easy access to a United States military plane to transfer her to a hospital after the fall in Luxembourg "because we have this wall at the White House," Politico reported members of the team as saying. The White House was eventually receptive, according to a source who spoke with the site.

Politico reports that Pelosi was even more upset by Biden's animosity since, according to Politico, the only direct plea she made to Biden about his electoral chances was to simply show him polling that indicated he and Democrats could face a historic walloping if he continued to run for office.

More Comments

“She just told him the truth — he was losing in every poll, and people had lost confidence," a source told the outlet.

Whether or if the two will fix their relationship is out in the air. Only a brief encounter at a White House holiday dinner has separated the two since the summer, and the former speaker has openly questioned whether Biden ought to have withdrawn from the race earlier than his late-July departure.

The former Speaker of the House, however, is adamant that their relationship can be repaired.

“I hope so,” she told The New Yorker last year. “I pray so. I cry so.”
