Late last year, President Donald Trump announced that businessmen Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy fight to save dollars through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

While Musk still seeks to devastate bureaucratic waste, Trump's team has revealed that Ramaswamy has quit the department.

Ramaswamy praised for "critical role in helping us create DOGE"

According to Fox News, that fact was made public this week by Anna Kelly, who serves as a spokesperson for the Trump-Vance transition team.

"Vivek Ramaswamy played a critical role in helping us create DOGE," the network quoted Kelly as saying in a statement on Monday.

"He intends to run for elected office soon, which requires him to remain outside of DOGE, based on the structure that we announced today," she continued.

"We thank him immensely for his contributions over the last 2 months and expect him to play a vital role in making America great again," the spokesperson went on to add.

Report: Ramaswamy will run to replace outgoing Gov. Mike DeWine

Fox News noted that Ramaswamy is widely expected to announce his candidacy for the Ohio governorship at some point next week.

He will be running to replace current Ohio Republican Gov. Mike DeWine, who was first elected in 2018 and is precluded from seeking another term in office.

Meanwhile, Ramaswamy responded to Kelly's statement by putting up remarks of his on Musk's social media platform.

"It was my honor to help support the creation of DOGE. I’m confident that Elon [and his] team will succeed in streamlining government," Ramaswamy wrote.

Ramaswamy: "I’ll have more to say very soon about my future plans in Ohio"

"I’ll have more to say very soon about my future plans in Ohio. Most importantly, we’re all-in to help President Trump make America great again!" the former presidential candidate went on to add.

Meanwhile, Fox News spoke late last week with an Ohio Republican political operative who offered insight into what Ramaswamy will do next.

"Vivek’s base plan remains [the] same: to get accomplishments at DOGE and then announce a run for governor shortly," the unnamed figure was quoted as saying.
