Don Jr. and Kim Guilfoyle seen being friendly together at multiple inaugural events
Donald Trump Jr. and former fiancé Kimberly Guilfoyle may have broken up last year, with Don Jr. moving on to date another woman, but it appears that the ex-couple are still able to be friendly with each other when their paths cross at public events.
That was made clear when the former lovers were spotted being cordial with one another at multiple inauguration events over the weekend, according to the New York Post's Page Six.
Further, anonymous inside sources have insisted that both Trump Jr. and Guilfoyle still care for each other and intend to remain friends despite breaking off their years-long engagement a couple of months ago.
Former couple will "always have a connection"
An unnamed source exclusively told Page Six that Guilfoyle "has every intention of maintaining a relationship with" Don Jr. in some capacity, and that "Kimberly and Don have known each other for years and have a lot of history together so she feels like they’ll always have a connection."
The pair began dating in 2018 and got engaged to be married in 2020, but that wedding never came and the engagement was quietly broken off at some point last year, made public only by the tabloids catching glimpses of Don Jr. with his new girlfriend, Palm Beach socialite Bettina Anderson, in December.
The decision to remain friendly was likely made in part to spare others around them from getting caught up in drama, as the inside source observed, "Kimberly and Don Jr. have many mutual friends and run in the same circles, so they’ll continuously cross paths throughout their lives."
"Although Kim is serving as ambassador to Greece she’s not going anywhere in terms of fading out of the public eye," the source added. "She’s also very close with the Trump family and will remain in contact with President Trump about her new role."
Seen together at multiple inaugural events
Page Six reported that Guilfoyle and Trump Jr. were spotted together at several of the same inauguration events over the weekend, and there were no signs of any hard feelings.
That includes the Bienvenido Ball, or the Hispanic inaugural ball, which took place on Saturday and for which Guilfoyle served as an honorary chair, according to the Daily Beast.
The two were spotted chatting with each other at multiple points and also greeted the family of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsanaro, who was invited to attend but was denied a passport to fly to the U.S. by a partisan leftist judge overseeing a political prosecution against him.
They also bumped into each other at a candlelit pre-inauguration dinner Sunday evening as well as the official inauguration ceremony on Monday at the Capitol Rotunda, according to the Times of India. Don Jr.'s new girlfriend Anderson was with him for the pre-inauguration dinner but was not at the Rotunda ceremony due to the limited availability of seats.
Late Monday evening, Trump Jr. and Guilfoyle were also at the exclusive Starlight Ball to cap off the evening, which Anderson did not attend, though she was seen with Don at the more informal Liberty Ball earlier in the night, per the Irish Star.
"There’s been zero awkwardness"
According to Page Six's inside source, Guilfoyle "didn’t feel awkward at all spending time with Don Jr. during the inauguration or any of the parties or events leading up to it."
The outlet noted that a separate unnamed source close to the president's eldest son said much the same thing, and revealed, "Don feels the same way. He still has a great relationship with Kimberly and there’s been zero awkwardness whenever they interact since their split."
