Trump fires first group of Biden appointees on first day in White House
If President Donald Trump is known for anything, it's his calculated approach to firing people who no longer serve his needs or agenda, and even White House chefs are not immune to that.
According to The Sun, upon taking office, it was made clear that Trump and his administration were set on firing at least 1000 Biden-era staffers and officials, which also included celebrity chef José Andrés.
President Trump, in a Truth Social post, made it crystal clear that purging Washington D.C. of the stain of the Biden administration was one of his top priorities, and he's already making it happen, as promised.
Not only did he begin his term by firing the first round of Biden appointees, Trump signed dozens of executive orders and announced hundreds of executive actions to remove any trace of the Biden administration in the White House and from executive policy.
What did he say?
The president wrote a brutally blunt Truth Social message announcing the firings and why he chose to do it straight away.
"Our first day in the White House is not over yet! My Presidential Personnel Office is actively in the process of identifying and removing over a thousand Presidential Appointees from the previous Administration, who are not aligned with our vision to Make America Great Again," Trump wrote.
"Let this serve as Official Notice of Dismissal for these 4 individuals, with many more, coming soon."
In classic Trump fashion, he added, "YOU’RE FIRED!."
The Post noted:
Andres, who has long had beef with Trump, was once meant to open a restaurant in Trump’s DC hotel but backed out after the president likened Mexicans to criminals and racists. The pair battled it out in court over their hotel-eatery dispute and eventually settled.
Others who were fired immediately included Gen. Mark Milley, Brian Hook, and Keisha Lance Bottoms.
Hiring spree
While Trump and his team have vowed to fire over 1,000 Biden-era staffers and appointees, they're also hiring the best of the best at a rapid rate, even setting a Day One record.
The outlet noted:
The new administration meanwhile went on a hiring binge, picking up more than 1,300 staffers — a record for Day One hires by any commander-in-chief.
Trump officials said their plan is to be swift to also highly select in who they fill the ranks with.
The president told podcast host Joe Rogan earlier this month that one of his biggest regrets from his first time in the White House was not being more careful with who he hired.
The new administration is expected to hire a staggering 4,000 people in the coming weeks.
