Jim Acosta's time at CNN may be up

Reporter Jim Acosta's time with CNN might just be coming to a close.

This comes, according to the New York Postafter reports that CNN has decided to move Acosta's television program from the late morning hours to the graveyard shift.

For those who do not know, this is not a good thing. If you're a reporter for CNN, you do not want to be part of its graveyard shift.

Acosta agrees, which is why the latest reports indicate that he may be looking to part ways with CNN rather than accept the change.

Here's what is going on:

It is no secret that leftist news outlets, like CNN, have not been doing well financially in recent years.

Fox News reports:

CNN has struggled to keep up with a changing media landscape over the past year, announcing this year that the company would lay off 6% of its workforce. "Our objective is a simple one: to shift CNN’s gravity towards the platforms and products where the audience themselves are shifting and, by doing that, to secure CNN’s future as one of the world’s greatest news organizations," CNN CEO Mark Thompson said in an internal memo obtained by Fox News Digital.

Accordingly, the outlet is looking to make some big changes to save itself. This, apparently, includes a significant shakeup of its television lineup.

The Wrap reports:

CNN made several changes to its lineup on Thursday, including giving longtime anchor Jake Tapper a new time slot and removing Jim Acosta from his morning show. Network veteran Wolf Blitzer is also being moved from broadcasting in the evening to the mornings as part of CNN’s shake up.

Whether this will be enough to save the network remains to be seen.

Acosta leaving?

The Los Angeles Times was the first to report that Acosta may be looking to part ways with CNN rather than accept the lineup change.

Per the outlet:

Acosta has yet to make a decision on accepting the assignment, said the people familiar with the matter, who were not authorized to comment publicly. He has been told by CNN that the move to Los Angeles is not a requirement and that the new program could come out of Washington, where he lives with his family.

But, there's more.

It continues:

If CNN goes forward with the move, some will see it as a way of capitulating to President Trump by reducing the profile of a journalist known for his aggressive coverage of Trump’s first administration. If Acosta decides against taking the assignment, he may exit the network, according to people familiar with his thinking.

The only question is whether this would be a loss or a gain for CNN. Time will tell.
