Fellow Democrats criticize John Fetterman for voting to confirm Pam Bondi as AG

Pam Bondi is set to begin serving as President Donald Trump's attorney general after the Senate confirmed her this week by a vote of 54 to 46.

While most of Bondi's votes came from Republicans, Democrats were left blindsided when Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman threw his support behind her.

Fetterman says Bondi is "qualified" despite her not being his "ideal pick"

According to Newsweek, Fetterman was the only member of his party to side with Republicans in voting for Bondi's confirmation.

"She's qualified, and it's not my ideal pick, but it turns out [former Attorney General] Merrick Garland wasn't anyone's ideal one either," the magazine quoted him as saying.

Fetterman's words stand in sharp contrast with those of Senate Judiciary Chairman Dick Durban, who went after Bondi on X.

"As I said during Ms. Bondi's hearing, it is absolutely critical that any nominee for attorney general be committed first and foremost to the Constitution and the American people—not the president and his political agenda," Durban declared.

Left-wing podcaster calls Fetterman's vote for Bondi "very disappointing"

"Unfortunately, I am unconvinced that Ms. Bondi shares my belief. Today I voted NO on her nomination," the Illinois lawmaker stated.

Newsweek noted that Fetterman faced immediate criticism from members of the left, including progressive podcast host Dash Dobrofsky.

"John Fetterman just voted to confirm Pam Bondi—an election denier—as America's next attorney general," Dobrofsky wrote in a social media post.

"He was the only Democrat to support her nomination. What is happening to Fetterman? Very disappointing," the commentator went on to add.

Fetterman agrees with Trump's decision to declare a border emergency

Fellow leftist influencer Jack Cocchiarella aired his grievances as well, writing, "John Fetterman just voted to confirm Pam Bondi. The election denier. The election denier who will let Trump break the law."

"The election denier who will illegitimately prosecute Democrats," Cocchiarella asserted before demanding, "What the F--K is wrong with John Fetterman?"

This is far from being the first time that Fetterman has backed Trump's agenda, as earlier this month he voiced agreement with the president's decision to declare a state of emergency along America's southern border.

"Well, I think if 300,000 people were showing up on the border, as they were during a month, not that long ago, I think it's important that we create a secure border. And that's really pretty much where we are," the senator told ABC News.
