AG Pam Bondi issues warning to anti-Trump prosecutors on day one

President Donald Trump's newest Cabinet member, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, is already making massive moves in her first hours at the Justice Department.

According to the Daily Mail, Bondi, on her first day in office, launched a new "Weaponization Working Group" inside the DOJ, which aims to warn prosecutors from undermining President Trump.

News of the newest section of the Justice Department came via a memo issued by Bondi earlier this week.

Bondi was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on Tuesday with a 54-46 vote, securing a majority of Republican support and a few Democrats, including Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA).

What did she say?

Bondi laid down the law, so to speak, within her first 24 hours of being Trump's AG. She issued several directives to prosecuting attorneys and others that essentially urged them to play ball.

The Daily Mail noted:

One Bondi directive on 'zealous advocacy' will call for 'aggressively enforcing criminal laws passed by Congress, but also vigorously defending presidential policies and actions on behalf of the United States against legal challenges.'

Bondi's directive also attempts to limit the "personal political views" of prosecutors within the DOJ.

"The discretion afforded Justice Department attorneys with respect to those responsibilities does not include latitude to substitute their personal political views or judgments for those that prevailed in the election," she wrote.

The new AG also wrote, "Any Justice Department attorney who declines to sign a brief, refuses to advance good-faith arguments on behalf of the Trump administration, or otherwise delays or impedes the Justice Department’s mission will be subject to discipline and potential termination."

Clearly, Bondi is dead set on making sure that the DOJ is in line with the president's vision while making it clear that the DOJ will not be used for political lawfare.

Trump praises Bondi

The president was beyond thrilled that Bondi was confirmed with relative ease in the upper chamber, heaping praise on her and predicting she'll make history.

"She's going to restore fair, equal and impartial justice," Trump said of Bondi.

He added, "I know I'm supposed to say she's going to be totally impartial with respect to Democrats and I think she will be as impartial as a person can be."

It'll be nice to see a Justice Department that focuses on fairness and getting he job done instead of attacking political opponents.
