President Donald Trump faced two impeachments during his first term, with the second trial taking place after he had left office.

Yet according to the Daily Mail, Texas Democratic Rep. Al Green is hoping to see Trump impeached for a third time.

Green cites Trump's comments on Gaza Strip

"The movement to impeach the president has begun. I rise to announce that I will bring Articles of Impeachment against the president for dastardly deeds proposed and dastardly deeds done," the Daily Mail quoted Green as saying in the House of Representatives on Wednesday.

Green then went on to reference remarks which Trump made during a press conference earlier this week with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The president had suggested that the United States could "take over the Gaza Strip" in an "ownership" capacity and rebuild the territory for economic development.

"We'll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site ... level the site and get rid of the destroyed buildings," Trump stated.

Green: "Ethnic cleansing in Gaza is not a joke"

"Ethnic cleansing in Gaza is not a joke, especially when it emanates from the President of the United States," the Democratic lawmaker Green said of Trump's statement.

"The Prime Minister of Israel should be ashamed," Green declared before adding, "Injustice in Gaza is a threat to justice in the United States of America."

The Daily Mail pointed out that Green's impeachment efforts are unlikely to have much chance of success given how Republicans currently hold a majority in both the House and Senate.

Meanwhile, Newsweek recalled how the liberal Texas congressman "has been a leader in the impeachment efforts against Trump since 2017."

Green has filed multiple impeachment resolutions against Trump

His first attempt at impeaching Trump came after the president fired former FBI Director James Comey early in his first term.

Green later introduced additional impeachment resolutions against Trump, including for his response to deadly riots in Charlottesville, Virginia that left one person dead.

Newsweek observed that Green serves on the House Financial Services Committee and is also the ranking Democratic member on the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.
