Melania Trump addressed rumors on White House living arrangements for her and son Barron
Throughout the transition period, there was plenty of media-fueled speculation about where first lady Melania Trump and first son Barron Trump would live once President Donald Trump was sworn in for his second term.
In an interview last month, Melania revealed that she planned to reside predominately at the White House as well as that Barron, who is attending college in New York City, would "come and visit" from time to time, according to the New York Post.
The first lady's remarks seemingly confirmed but also clarified and ended the rumors about her splitting her time living in the White House, New York City, and South Florida over the next four years.
Melania expects college student Barron will "come and visit" the White House
Just one week before Inauguration Day, then-incoming first lady Melania Trump sat for an exclusive interview with "Fox & Friends" co-host Ainsley Earhardt, and part of that conversation revolved around where she and her beloved son Barron would primarily be residing for the next few years.
Following some discussion about preparations for moving back into the White House for another four years, Melania was asked if Barron, currently a student at New York University's Stern School of Business, would be spending any time there as well, to which she replied, "I think he will come and visit, yes."
Asked further if he'd be allowed to and "comfortable" with bringing friends along with him on those visits, the first lady was affirmative and said, "Yeah, whatever he would like to do, yes."
"I feel that, children, we have them until they are like 18, 19 years old. We teach them, we guide them, and then we give them the wings to fly," Melania added. "And I always respect Barron’s ‘yes’ and ‘no’ and what he likes to do, where he would like to be."
Barron reportedly quite "popular" with fellow NYU students
Left unmentioned in that back-and-forth was the possibility of Barron bringing a new girlfriend with him to the White House, rather than just some of his guy friends.
That is certainly plausible in light of a People magazine report in mid-December about how the young freshman student was fitting in nicely at NYU, especially with some of his female classmates.
"He’s a ladies' man for sure. He’s really popular with the ladies," an unnamed inside source revealed of Barron. "He’s tall and handsome. A lot of people seem to think he’s pretty attractive -- yes, even liberal people like him."
Where will Melania live?
A short time later in that exclusive interview, Earhardt raised the speculative reports about where Melania planned to spend most of her time over the next four years, and the first lady seemed to confirm that she would indeed be splitting her time between the White House Washington D.C., Trump Tower in New York City, and Mar-a-Lago in South Florida, according to Mediaite.
"I will be in the White House," Melania said. "And you know, when I need to be in New York, I will be in New York; when I need to be in Palm Beach, I will be in Palm Beach."
"But my first priority is, you know, to be a mom, to be a first lady, to be a wife,” she added. “And once we’re in on January 20, you serve the country."
The Post noted that the former and current first lady later said she and the president would be "very busy" after the inauguration and in some respects had "already started" working on what she believes "will be an exciting four years. We have a lot to do putting the country back in shape."
