Trump revokes the security clearances of Bragg, James, Blinken - and Biden
President Donald Trump has just revoked the security clearances of several high-profile Democrats.
The list, according to Fox News, including former President Joe Biden, New York State Attorney General Letitia James, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, and former Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
Many see this as Trump taking a bit of revenge on some of the individuals who targeted him.
It's worth noting, however, that Trump did not start this.
First Biden
Trump's first big move came on Friday, when he revoked the security clearance of Biden.
In a social media post, he wrote:
There is no need for Joe Biden to continue receiving access to classified information. Therefore, we are immediately revoking Joe Biden’s Security Clearances, and stopping his daily Intelligence Briefings.
Trump went on to note that it was indeed Biden who "set this precedent in 2021, when he instructed the Intelligence Community (IC) to stop the 45th President of the United States (ME!) from accessing details on National Security, a courtesy provided to former Presidents."
Trump continued, writing, "The Hur Report revealed that Biden suffers from “poor memory” and, even in his “prime,” could not be trusted with sensitive information. I will always protect our National Security — JOE, YOU’RE FIRED. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"
It turns out, though, that Trump was just getting started.
Bragg, Blinken, and James are gone too
The following day, Trump announced that he was also revoking the security clearances of Bragg, James, and Blinken.
Trump partially explained the move in an interview that he did with the New York Post.
"This is to take away every right they have revoking security clearances] including they can't go into [federal] buildings," Trump said, adding that he, again, is just following Biden's precedent.
James and Bragg, of course, are two of the prosecutors who weaponized the legal system against Trump. Bragg did so with the infamous "hush-money" case, and James did so with the infamous civil fraud case. Respected lawyers on all sides of the political spectrum have agreed that these cases amounted to little more than political persecutions, noting that Trump really did not do anything wrong. Trump, for his part, continues to fight the judgment and verdict in the courts.
As for Blinken, Trump put it this way, "I don’t trust him. [He's a] bad guy." Blinken, of course, was responsible for the infamous letter from 51 former intelligence officials, falsely claiming that the Hunter Biden laptop was Russian disinformation.
