Pete Hegseth will work with DOGE to review DOD spending

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is working with Elon Musk's DOGE to streamline processes and "cut tail to put it to tooth," in the Department of Defense.

In an appearance on Fox News on Sunday, Hegseth confirmed he is throwing the doors open for DOGE to come in and clean house in a highly anticipated audit following DOGE's shocking findings at USAID.

DOGE discovered billions in fraudulent activity that amounted to complete robbery of the American taxpayer and this discovery has raised questions about how much waste and fraud is happening over at the Pentagon.

Hegseth told Fox News's Maria Bartiromo, "We know in a world where America's $37 trillion in debt, resources will not be unlimited, so every dollar we can find that isn't being spent wisely is one we can put toward a warfighter, so we welcome DOGE at DOD."

Unprecedented Transparency

He continued saying, "We will partner with them, and it's long overdue. The Defense Department's got a huge budget, but it needs to be responsible."

Hegseth, a combat veteran who previously worked as an anchor at Fox News himself, was confirmed by the Senate last month and has been busy making significant reforms in the DOD.

Hegseth has taken a flamethrower to Biden-era policies, including Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives within the agency. However, President Donald Trump and DOGE leader Elon Musk want to completely overhaul the DOD's budget and accounting policies for maximum transparency.

Trump highlighted the Education and Defense Departments as the next targets he would like to see audited and reformed during an interview with Fox News's Bret Baier.

Taxpayers deserve to know

Hegseth referenced Trump's comments saying, "The president is right. He's setting the pace, and he is also correct that American taxpayers deserve to know exactly how and where their money is spent. The fact that I have to commit to an audit being done in four years is bad enough. The Pentagon should be able to pass a budget right now."

Hegseth gave special props to the U.S. Marine Corps saying, "Thankfully, the Marine Corps has passed a clean audit for two years in a row, and I applaud them, but that needs to go across the entire department, so that will be a focus where we spend dollars."

The other branches have failed to pass an audit for years and it goes without saying that many Americans resent the U.S. Government failing an audit that would carry serious implications for any regular American.

Unspeakable Corruption

DOGE's investigation of USAID uncovered billions in fraud and the outraged reactions from Democrat politicians suggest that some of that fraud was being steered their way.

Democrats like Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA) were devolving into absolute hysterics and Warren even claimed that Americans had no right to know where their tax dollars were being spent.

Americans have long joked about their money being wasted by the government but DOGE's audit has confirmed that there are criminal amounts of waste and fraud going on in just one department.

Considering the Department of Defense has the largest portion of the annual budget, it wouldn't be surprising if DOGE uncovers even more waste and fraud with billions of dollars being funneled towards initiatives that Democrat politicians have stakes in.
