Trump orders Elon Musk to look for waste at the Pentagon, Department of Education

Trump: "I've had a great help with Elon Musk"
According to Breitbart, Trump made the announcement during a pre-Super Bowl interview on Sunday with Fox News host Brett Baier.
"I don’t know if it’s kickbacks or what’s going on, but look, I ran on this, and the people want me to find it. And I’ve had a great help with Elon Musk, who’s been terrific," Trump said of the need to eliminate mismanagement.
When Baier asked the president whether he trusts Musk, Trump was unequivocal in his answer, saying, "Trust Elon? He's not gaining anything. In fact, I wonder how he can devote the time to it. He’s so into it."
"I'm going to tell him very soon, like maybe in 24 hours, to go check the Department of Education. He’s going to find the same thing," Trump continued.
"Then I’m going to go to the military. Let’s check the military. We’re going to find billions, hundreds of millions of dollars of fraud and abuse. And, you know, the people elected me on that," the president stressed.

For his part, Musk stated in a social media post on Monday that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has been spending tens of millions of dollars to house illegal migrants.
The @DOGE team just discovered that FEMA sent $59M LAST WEEK to luxury hotels in New York City to house illegal migrants.
Sending this money violated the law and is in gross insubordination to the President’s executive order.
That money is meant for American disaster relief…

"The [DOGE] team just discovered that FEMA sent $59M LAST WEEK to luxury hotels in New York City to house illegal migrants," Musk wrote.
"Sending this money violated the law and is in gross insubordination to the President’s executive order. That money is meant for American disaster relief and instead is being spent on high end hotels for illegals! A clawback demand will be made today to recoup those funds," he asserted.
DOGE canceled contract to build a Fauci museum exhibit

DOGE explained that the contracts "were entirely for administrative expenses," with none of them being tied to "any healthcare programs."
One of the contracts allocated $168,000 towards the construction of a Dr. Anthony Fauci exhibit at the NIH Museum.
