Fetterman staffers abruptly quit

Multiple staffers just resigned from U.S. Sen. John Fetterman's (D-PA) office.

NBC News reports that the incident happened last week.

As we will see, these are fairly high-level staffers, and, apparently, they are not too happy with the fact that Fetterman has expressed openness to work with President Donald Trump and Republicans on some issues.

In other words, Fetterman, in their view, has not done enough to toe the party line - whatever exactly the line is these days.

The resignations

NBC identifies the staff members who have resigned from Fetterman's office.

Per the outlet:

Charlie Hills, Fetterman’s communications director, and Tré Easton, his legislative director, are set to soon depart the Pennsylvania Democrat’s office. Both men worked on Fetterman’s 2022 campaign and have been with him during his two-year Senate career.

The outlet goes on to note that these are not the first departures that we have seen, in recent times, from Fetterman's office.

The outlet writes:

The departures come one month after Carrie Adams left as Fetterman's communications director. She had garnered attention when she was quoted in a Free Press article disagreeing with the senator on Israel and the war in Gaza. That followed Fetterman losing three of his top communications staffers last March, before his chief-of-staff, Adam Jentleson, stepped down.

Fetterman, at the time of this writing, has not released a statement on the most recent resignations.

Background

Fox News explains why it is that Fetterman may be having trouble holding onto staffers.

Per the outlet:

Since entering the Senate, Fetterman has made waves due, in part, to his colorful vocabulary and also his willingness to cross the aisle and side with Republicans, particularly when it comes to supporting Israel. The Democrat notably expressed openness to President Donald Trump's proposal to annex Gaza, bringing it under U.S. control. "It’s a provocative part of the conversation, but it’s part of the conversation, and that’s where we are," he told Jewish Insider.

It is not, however, just about Fetterman's support of Israel. Fox goes on to note that "Fetterman has also been willing to buck his party on illegal immigration."

Fetterman, as you may remember, even met with Trump at Mar-a-Lago, and Trump even offered some praise for Fetterman. "It was a totally fascinating meeting. He’s a fascinating man, and his wife is lovely. They were both up, and I couldn’t be more impressed," Trump, at the time, said.

Despite all of this, there still are plenty of things that Fetterman continues to disagree with Trump about. It is just not enough, apparently, for these staffers.
