Trump poised to complete cabinet in record time after key wins
Donald Trump has been getting win after win when it comes to his administration's nominees, and he has the Senate GOP and their 53-47 majority to thank for that.
Because of the Senate's ability to get Donald Trump's nominees confirmed so quickly, Donald Trump is on pace to complete his cabinet in record time.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune, a Republican from South Dakota, and the rest of the Republicans in the upper chamber have successfully approved 18 of 22 cabinet positions.
Miles ahead of Biden
Joe Biden certainly lived up to his nickname of Sleepy Joe when it came to getting his administration confirmed.
It's taken Donald Trump just 36 days to get 18 cabinet members approved. Biden only had seven nominees confirmed at this same point and was not able to get 18 Cabinet nominees confirmed until he had been in office for 57 days.
Barack Obama is being outpaced by Donald Trump as well. Despite Obama moving way faster than Joe Biden did, Donald Trump still has more Cabinet officials confirmed than Barack Obama did at this same point in his presidency.
Trump's recent wins
At the time of writing, the most recent official to be confirmed was former Senator Kelly Loeffler, who was confirmed to lead Donald Trump's Small Business Administration.
Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso said that Republicans are working hard to approve the nominees quickly because he knows that's what American voters want.
"By the end of today, we will have confirmed 18 of President Trump’s nominees. These nominees are bold and well-qualified," Barrasso said on the Senate floor before a recent voting session.
"That is more nominees than President Obama had in 2009. It is more than President Biden had in 2021. More than twice as many," he added. "Americans voted for a bold, new direction in Washington. Senate Republicans are delivering it."
Trump's controversial picks confirmed
Even though there are still a few more nominees left to confirm, Republicans feel as though the toughest battles have already been won.
The approval of new FBI Director Kash Patel represented a crucial accomplishment for the GOP, as it meant that all of Donald Trump's most controversial nominees had been confirmed.
Since the day he nominated them for their positions, it was always going to be close for people like Kash Patel, Tulsi Gabbard, RFK Jr., and Pete Hegseth to win their spots.
Hegseth even needed Vice President J.D. Vance to come in and cast a 101st vote after the Senate split 50-50 over him.
Despite at least one Republican rejecting all of the above four names, they're all in as of now. The rest of the nominees should be easy by comparison.
