AG Says DOJ will no longer be weaponized

Pam Bondi, the Attorney General, has given her word that the period of weaponizing the Department of Justice "ends today," as The Washington Examiner reported.

In the course of an interview with Lara Trump on Fox News's My View, Bondi discussed her objectives for the Department of Justice, which is currently under her direction.

Bondi, who recently assumed the position of head of the Department of Justice, has stated that her ambition for the federal government is to make it "a transparent government."

“Well, short-term goals, on Day One, shortly after I was sworn in, I walked over and signed 14 executive orders basically saying we are returning the Department of Justice to its core function: fighting violent crime. And the weaponization ends, it ends today,” Bondi said.

Active Response

Bondi immediately took action after being sworn in on earlier this month, indicating that the Department of Justice will be the driving force behind a wide range of Trump's initiatives to reverse fundamental Justice Department regulations. This includes rules that were put in place by the Biden Administration.

Bondi was clear that she was working to alter a Department of Justice that Trump has voiced concern is prejudiced against him and biased against political conservatives in general.

Bondi was sworn in as the nation's top law enforcement official in a ceremony held at the White House by Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. The changes were made on the same day that the ceremony took place during the same day.

During that ceremony, Trump lavished praise on Bondi, who had previously served as his attorney for criminal defense and had also served as the attorney general of Florida for two terms.

Investigations into Investigators

The investigations of Trump's activities before, during, and after his first term in office, as well as the cases brought against him by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and New York Attorney General Letitia James, will be among the topics that the "Weaponization Working Group" will investigate.

The Department of Justice's investigations into the assault on the United States Capitol that took place on January 6, 2021 by a violent crowd of Trump supporters will also be examined.

In an official memorandum titled "Restoring the Integrity and Credibility of the Department of Justice," these objectives are laid forth in detail.

"Unethical Prosecutions"

Bondi pledged to refrain from politicizing the Justice Department during her confirmation process. However, she also expressed her conviction that the Department of Justice had unjustly prosecuted and targeted Trump.

In a newly released memo, the AG stated that the Weaponization Working Group will “identify instances where a department's or agency's conduct appears to have been designed to achieve political objectives or other improper aims rather than pursuing justice or legitimate governmental objectives.”

“No one who has acted with a righteous spirit and just intentions has any cause for concern about efforts to root out corruption and weaponization,” Bondi said in the memo, which like the others was issued to all DOJ employees.

“On the other hand,” it said, “the Department of Justice will not tolerate abuses of the criminal justice process, coercive behavior, or other forms of misconduct.”
