Ukraine says rare earth minerals deal with USA in 'final stages'
President Donald Trump recently made it clear that he's done supporting Ukraine on American taxpayers' dime and expecting nothing in return, and it would appear as though the government of Ukraine realizes that Trump is very serious about this.
Breitbart.com is reporting "the government of Ukraine confirmed on Monday that it is in the 'final stages' of an agreement on selling rare earth minerals to America, a deal President Donald Trump floated as a way for America to get a return on its investment in supporting Kyiv against Russian invasion."
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently made the claim that he doesn't owe America anything for the aid that Joe Biden's administration sent to his country, but recent reports indicate that Ukraine is close to a deal that would feature the selling of some of their rare earth minerals to America.
Zelensky further proved that he may be willing to work with the rest of the world by offering his resignation in return for peace between Ukraine and Russia or a spot for Ukraine in NATO.
The 'final stages'
Although Zelensky was clear that the billions of dollars America has been using to fund his war against Russia with was presented to him as a "grant" that he had no intentions of ever paying back, it would appear as though progress is being made.
US envoy to Ukraine Keith Kellogg recently spent three days in Ukraine with Zelensky. It's reported that as Kellogg was leaving, the Ukrainian government told him that Zelensky may be willing to work out a deal to provide America with some sort of value in return for funding Ukraine's war effort.
Minister of Justice Olha Stefanishyna made the recent announcement that despite Zelensky's recent comments expressing hesitation about providing America with access to Ukraine's rare earth minerals, the "final" stages of a deal were falling into place:
"Ukrainian and U.S. teams are in the final stages of negotiations regarding the minerals agreement," she wrote on social media. "The negotiations have been very constructive, with nearly all key details finalized. We are committed to completing this swiftly to proceed with its signature."
Trump playing hardball
Despite Zelensky initially indicating that Ukraine had no intention of doing any favors for America despite all of the aid coming from the U.S., Trump did what he does best:
Put the pressure on:
"Trump disparaged Zelensky as a 'dictator' and implied he should vacate the office, led many in international media to conclude that Ukraine would ultimately decline any such agreement with Washington," Breitbart reports.
Some people are calling Trump a bully or a mob boss for shaking down Ukraine, but Trump says he's simply asking for what is fair:
"We’re telling Ukraine they have very valuable rare earths. We’re looking to do a deal with Ukraine, where they’re going to secure what we’re giving them with their rare earths and other things," Trump said.
He added, "We want a guarantee. We’re handing them money, hand over fist."
"I want to have security of rare earths. We’re putting in hundreds of billions of dollars. They have great rare earths. And I want security of the rare earths, and they’re willing to do it," Trump continued.
Do you think Trump is asking too much with this deal, or is it simply what America is owed?
