Some pro-Trump critics demand AG Bondi's resignation following 'Epstein Files' mishap

White House officials, led by Attorney General Pam Bondi, promoted the release this week of newly declassified information about the late convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, only for it to be revealed that much of that information had already been leaked to the public or remained heavily redacted.

Many supporters of President Donald Trump were furious about what occurred and Bondi has borne much of the blame, with some even going so far as to call for her resignation, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

For her part, however, the attorney general appears to have suggested that officials within the Justice Department and FBI misled her about the contents of the "Epstein Files" and has demanded internal investigations to determine who is at fault for the terrible optics and embarrassing "own goal" for the Trump administration.

Sharp critiques for Bondi and demands for her resignation

On Thursday, several prominent and influential right-wing figures on social media were invited to the White House and were soon spotted by the media carrying large binders that were labeled "The Epstein Files: Part I."

It was soon determined that there was really nothing new in those binders that hadn't already been known by the general public, and the resultant angry backlash against the White House from Trump supporters who felt betrayed and lied to was both fierce and swift, with AG Bondi receiving the bulk of the blame for what happened.

"When Pam Bondi went on Fox News last night and said that her office was releasing 'new' Epstein flight logs, names and information, saying, 'It's pretty sick what that man did.' She already KNEW what was in the binders," the popular X account The Quartering wrote. "She lied to the American People. She should Resign."

Likewise, pro-Trump independent journalist Laura Loomer posted, "There is one person who takes the blame for what happened today. It’s @PamBondi. I think she should resign. She went on Fox News and said the files were on her desk. Then she went on Fox News last night and said we would have files today. She is a total liar. Just face it."

A "clusterf--k" at the White House

Amid the anger, chaos, and confusion, Raheem Kassam of The National Pulse reached out to his contacts within the Trump White House and learned that the entire rollout of the so-called "Epstein Files" was viewed internally as a "clusterf--k" that had not at all gone according to plan.

As it turned out, the social media influencers were only supposed to have received guided tours and briefings on policy issues, and when they were unexpectedly given the binders -- then subsequently spotted by media cameras with them -- they were also told afterwards that the information was still embargoed and couldn't be publicly released immediately.

"Only after this media moment were the social media influencers told that AG Bondi did not want the public to know about the distribution of the binders, a caveat that came too late," Kassam wrote. "One of the sources I spoke to called the entire incident a 'clusterf--k,' with many of them resenting the fact that social media influencers are getting the blame for not releasing more information when they were asked not to, but only after the assembled media had taken pictures and video of them."

"Rather than a conspiracy by the social media influencers, this event looks to have been a failed attempt to curry social media favor by AG Bondi, who scrambled on Thursday afternoon to demand the FBI release more files," he noted, and added, "The incident speaks more to a cock-up or blunder by the AG and her team than anything else. The National Pulse has also verified that little to no new information is contained in the binders, suggesting again that this was more of a failed public relations stunt."

Bondi flashes anger at mishap, Patel responds

There is some speculation that AG Bondi believes she was double-crossed by federal attorneys in the DOJ's Southern District of New York, and NewsNation reported that Bondi fired off a letter to FBI Director Kash Patel that seemed to accuse the FBI Field Office in New York of withholding documents that should have already been turned over to her.

That letter instructed the FBI to deliver by Friday the "full and complete Epstein files to my office -- including all records; documents, audio, and video recordings, and materials related to Jeffrey Epstein and his clients, regardless of how such information was obtained," and further directed Patel to launch "an immediate investigation into why my order to the FBI was not followed."

In an apparent response, Patel said in an X post that the "new era" for the FBI under his leadership would feature "no cover-ups, no missing documents, and no stone left unturned -- and anyone from the prior or current Bureau who undermines this will be swiftly pursued. If there are gaps, we will find them. If records have been hidden, we will uncover them."
