As Fox News reports, Melania Trump's office announced last week that preparations are underway for the 147th White House Easter Egg Roll, a beloved tradition that has spanned decades of presidential administrations.

Cherished tradition returns

According to the White House Historical Association, the very first Easter Egg Roll occurred on April 22, 1878, under the administration of President Rutherford B. Hayes, and it has since become one of Washington's premier annual events, anticipated by children and adults alike.

This year's festivities were teased in a statement from the White House, which said, “The president and first lady look forward to continuing this entertaining tradition and making it a truly memorable experience for us all.”

Fox News noted that the egg roll event is one generally overseen by the first lady, which each presidential spouse bringing her own personal flair to the proceedings.

Though egg rolling races have always been a key part of the Easter Monday event, recent years have also seen additions including musical performances and dancing, and all attendees are given a keepsake egg-shaped souvenir to help them remember the day.

Tickets to attend the White House Egg Roll on April 21 are free, but they must be requested through an online lottery set to run between March 4 and March 10, with those selected slated for notification on March 18.

Trump White House comes alive

As Fox News noted, yet another favortie White House tradition recentlty resumed, sparking excitement from legions of Americans planning to visit the nation's capital in the near future.

During the recent transition between the Biden and Trump administrations, public tours of the White House were temporarily suspended, a vexing situation to anyone who traveled to D.C. hoping to catch an inside look at the People's House.

However, it was earlier this month that Mrs. Trump's office announced the imminent resumption of tours, which began again on Feb. 25.

In telling Americans the good news, the first lady said in a statement, “The President and I are excited to reopen the White House to those interested in the extraordinary story of this iconic and beautiful landmark.”

Mrs. Trump's statement went on, “There is much to learn about the American Presidency, the First Families who have lived here, and our Nation's rich history from a firsthand experience at the White House.”

The exuberance with which President and Mrs. Trump have greeted their second tenure in the White House was on full display again last week when, at the start of the first public tour since the transition-related hiatus, the commander in chief himself made a personal appearance, thanking those in attendance and guaranteeing them a “great” time, according to the New York Post.

Donald Trump declared of the tour, “The first lady worked very hard in making it perfect, and I think you're going to really love it,” and the same seems certain to be the case with the upcoming Egg Roll.
