Trump puts Fox News hosts on Kennedy Center board

President Donald Trump is continuing his overhaul of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

To this end, Trump recently announced, in a social media post, that he is placing two Fox News hosts on the center's board of directors.

The hosts are Laura Ingraham, known for the Fox News Channel's The Ingraham Angle, and Maria Bartiromo, known for Fox Business Network's Mornings with Maria.

This is a huge shakeup, to say the least, and the Democrats are really not happy about this one.

The latest

In the message that he posted to Truth Social on Friday, Trump said that he is "thrilled" to announce the additions of Ingrahama and Bartiromo to the Kennedy Center's board.

The president wrote:

I am thrilled to announce that Laura Ingraham and Maria Bartiromo will be joining our Kennedy Center Board - This completes our selection. We look forward to restoring the Center to Greatness, and ushering in America’s Golden Age. Together, we will Make the Arts Great Again!

This comes after Trump, in February 2025, began a complete overhaul of the center.

Background

Newsmax reports:

In February Trump removed the 18 board members and named himself chairman saying the board did not share the administration’s “vision for a golden age in arts and culture” and noted a performance last year featuring a drag show aimed at children.

Trump, at the time, released a message, saying, "I’m going to be chairman of it, and we’re going to make sure that it’s good and it’s not going to be woke. There’s no more woke in this country."

"Woke has cost us a fortune and cost us our reputation, but the reputation is coming back very, very rapidly," he added.

A new look

While Trump named himself the chairman of the Kennedy Center's board, he named Ric Grennel as the center's president. Grenell is also serving as the president's Envoy for Special Missions.

Grenell is taking over for Deborah Rutter, who was fired by Trump.

Breitbart News reports:

According to the Kennedy Center’s website, first lady Melania Trump, along with former first ladies Jill Biden, Michelle Obama, Laura Bush, and Hillary Clinton serve as honorary chairs of the Kennedy Center.

Trump and Grenell say that Americans ought to expect a big revival of the Kennedy Center. In response to all of this, members of the political left have already started calling for boycotts. This is unlikely to stop Trump.
