A progressive Democratic U.S. senator who is a staunch critic of President Donald Trump was just exposed for casting his stones from within a glass house of his own.

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT), 51, was caught on camera "cuddling" on a dinner date with progressive media mogul and political strategist Tara McGowan, 39, at an upscale Washington D.C. restaurant and bar last week, according to the New York Post.

The problem here for Murphy is that he is technically a married man, as he only recently separated from -- but has not yet divorced -- his wife of nearly 20 years, D.C. attorney Cathy Holahan, with whom he shares two sons.

The Post reported that it obtained exclusive photos of Sen. Murphy and McGowan "cuddling" and "being cutesy" with each other while dining at D.C.'s Red Hen restaurant and bar last Monday.

The photos of the seemingly romantic dinner date appear to confirm separate reporting that indicated the two were now an item.

Semafor reported on Sunday that according to an unnamed D.C. inside source and a since-deleted Instagram post from McGowan, the senator and the media mogul are now dating just months after Murphy separated from his wife.

McGowan's Instagram post featured a selfie of the new couple and a caption that cryptically read "not postponing joy."

The outlet noted that requests for comment on the situation from McGowan and Murphy were either ignored or declined.

Murphy separated but not divorced from wife and mother of his sons

The Post noted that it was less than four months ago that the Hartford Courant reported that Sen. Murphy and wife Cathy Holahan, who've been married since 2007 after meeting in law school and have two sons together, revealed in a mid-November joint email to close friends that they had separated after nearly 20 years of marriage.

"After much reflection and discussion, we have decided to separate as a couple," the Nov. 15 letter said. "We do so with deep care and respect for each other, and with a focus on continuing to be friends and loving, collaborative parents to our boys whom we adore."

"This was a difficult decision, but we believe that it is right for us, and we are going to move onto this new path the right way," the split couple added. "We will continue to support each other personally and professionally. And we hope you all will stay connected with both of us."

However, nearly four months after that separation, and despite the evidence that Murphy has moved on romantically, the senator and his wife are still officially married, as there are no records of either of them filing for a divorce in Connecticut or D.C.

Progressive senator paired with leftist propagandist

As for McGowan, she just finalized her year-long divorce last year from Michael Halle, a Democratic strategist and former advisor to former Transportation Sec. Pete Buttigieg, who previously worked on the presidential campaigns of Buttigieg, failed 2016 nominee Hillary Clinton, and former President Barack Obama.

McGowan is the CEO of Courier Newsroom, an ostensible collection of media outlets that could more accurately be described as a progressive propaganda network funded by leftist billionaires like George Soros and Reid Hoffman, and her "news" sites have notably been boosting and reposting Sen. Murphy's incessant attacks against President Trump over the past few months.
