President Donald Trump promised his supporters in the lead-up to the 2024 election that he would make deportations of illegal aliens in the United States a top priority, and he clearly wasn't messing around.

Not only has Trump and his administration made incredible strides in ramping up deportations, but according to Breitbart, the president will reportedly soon invoke a centuries-old law that will help "fast-track" deportations across the country.

The outlet reported that Trump is set to invoke the Alien Enemies Act to help speed up deportations -- a law that was first introduced in 1798.

The law allows the president to quickly deport citizens from other countries that are conducting an "invasion or predatory incursion" of the United States.

What's going on?

The Trump administration is moving forward with the law to bolster deportation numbers, which have risen since Trump took office but are reportedly not exactly where the president would like them to be.

Breitbart reported:

Trump is expected to apply the “predatory incursion” charge against Venezuela. But he may also apply the charge to other governments — such as the Cuban or Nicaraguan dictatorships — that gain economic remittances by sending their young men to the United States to work.

The New York Times provided details on exactly how Trump and his administration will apply the law.

"Mr. Trump wants to use the law to expel suspected members of drug cartels and criminal gangs, including the Venezuelan group Tren de Aragua, people familiar with the matter say," the outlet reported.

It added, "The administration already has designated the Venezuelan gang a terrorist organization. The government intends to send some of those arrested through the authority to Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, according to a person familiar with the matter."

According to other reports, aliens processed through the Alien Enemies Act would not be eligible for court hearings or asylum.

Social media responds

Trump's supporters across social media cheered the move as an effective way to ramp up the deportation process.

"That’s the only way TO make American safe again. Too many violent invaders here," one X user wrote.
