Trump administration cuts off funding for transgender experiments on rodents
President Donald Trump promised that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) would work to eliminate needless federal spending.
A recent decision to cut off funding for studies that subjected mice to transgender hormone experiments suggests his promise is being kept.
One study involved creating "transmasculine" rodents
According to Breitbart, a bipartisan government watchdog group called White Coat Waste (WCW) lauded the Trump administration for doing away with two such grants which were awarded to Harvard University by the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
"This proposal will undertake preclinical studies to address breast cancer (BC) risk and treatment concerns of transmasculine people (female-to-male transition)," the grant's abstract read.
It went on to state that "most transmasculine individuals pursue testosterone therapy (TT) to treat their gender dysphoria."
"The breast is a sex hormone-sensitive organ. Transmasculine individuals who receive TT are now a subject of concern – very little is known about how such high levels of testosterone affect the breast and subsequently risk of developing BC," the abstract continued.
Second study was led by doctor who specializes in "gender affirming surgery"
A second grant paid for a study titled, "Molecular Mechanisms of Hormone-Mediated Sex Differences in Wound Healing."
"Sex has received growing interest as a factor in wound healing [WH], and some studies show higher rates of non- healing wounds in men," the study's abstract read.
It later explained that "[a] novel and promising way to better understand this link is to examine WH in transgender patients on exogenous hormones."
Breitbart noted that the second study was led by Dr. Devin O’Brien Coon, who is a specialist in transgender surgery. Brigham and Women’s Hospital’s physicians directory lists one of his "clinical interests" as "LGBT health and gender affirming surgery."
Watchdog group says $241 million has been spent on "transgender animal testing"
Neither grant was unique, as WCW senior vice President of advocacy and public policy Justin Goodman described other examples when appearing before the House Oversight Committee in February.

"In a lot of these cases, they involve mice, rats, monkeys, who are being surgically mutilated and subjected to hormone therapies to mimic female to male or male to female gender transitions," he noted.
What's more, Goodman went on to tell Arizona Republican Rep. Eli Crane that some $241 million in taxpayer funds have been spent on "transgender animal testing."
