President Trump pardoned Devon Archer, the former Hunter Biden business associate who became a top witness against the Biden family.

The president had confirmed his plans to pardon Archer in an interview with the New York Post before he signed the papers Tuesday.

"He’s getting a full pardon. He was screwed by the Bidens. They destroyed him like they tried to destroy a lot of people," Trump told the Post.

Who is Devon Archer?

Archer was convicted in 2018 for defrauding a Native American tribe out of millions in bond sales. Hunter Biden's name was used as a selling point in the scam, but he was never charged, despite being vice chairman of the firm at the center of the case.

A district court judge overturned Archer's conviction and ordered a new trial, but the verdict was reinstated. He was sentenced to a year in prison in 2022.

Archer's involvement with Hunter Biden's overseas business deals made him a key witness in House Republicans' impeachment inquiry into President Biden.

Archer's testimony

In closed-door testimony in 2023, Archer told Congress that Joe Biden spoke with executives at Burisma Holdings, the Ukrainian energy company where Hunter received an $80,000 per month salary. Before leaving office, President Biden infamously gave his son a blanket 10-year pardon extending to 2014, the year he began working for Burisma.

Archer also sat on the company's board, and he told Congress that Hunter Biden's business consisted of little more than peddling his family's "brand" to overseas clients. Democrats at the time downplayed and distorted Archer's testimony, with one Democrat even attributing his own words about an "illusion of access" to the witness.

The testimony proved that Biden had misled the nation when he said, repeatedly, that he had no awareness of his son's dealings.

“He was aware of Hunter’s business, he met with Hunter’s business partners," Archer told Tucker Carlson at the time.

Trump condemns "unfair" treatment

President Trump said Archer was "treated very unfairly” before signing the pardon at the White House.

“And I looked at the record, studied the record, and he was a victim of a crime, as far as I’m concerned. So we’re going to undo that," Trump said.

“Congratulations, Devon!!”

Archer said his life was turned upside down by "lawfare" as he thanked President Trump for ending his ordeal.

“Like so many people, my life was devastated by the Biden family’s selfish disregard for the truth and for the peace of mind and happiness of others. The Bidens talk about justice, but they don’t mean it,” he said. “I am grateful that the American people are now well aware of this reality.”
