Report: Man who helped authenticate Hunter Biden's laptop is under investigation
CBS News made headlines in 2022 when it acknowledged that Hunter Biden's laptop was not the product of Russian disinformation.
However, one of the two individuals whom CBS News relied on to authenticate Hunter's device has since been accused of lying about his credentials.
Allegation raised in March letter
As the Daily Caller reported, Mark Lanterman is a chief technology officer for the Minnesota-based company Computer Forensics Services (CFS).
Yet Minnesota's Hennepin County Attorney’s Office (HCAO) announced this week that it will no longer be using Lanterman as an expert witness in pending cases.
Accusations concerning Lanterman first surfaced last month when Fox 9 obtained a letter signed by Michael Radmer, who serves as managing attorney in the HCAO.
The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office says it will no longer rely on the work or testimony of a digital forensic expert in pending cases after questions were raised about Mark Lanterman’s education and employment background. https://t.co/2saWuUUuJ8

In it, Radmer asserted that he had been notified by a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin of "misrepresentations" which Lanterman had allegedly made.
Prosecutor's office says Lanterman is being investigated by the FBI
That was followed by a press release in which the HCAO distanced itself from Lanterman and added that he is now under investigation by the FBI.
"As previously stated, our office attempted to verify Mr. Lanterman’s background after concerns were raised," the press release read.
"In compliance with our constitutional and ethical obligations, today, we sent an additional disclosure on the ten cases that are potentially impacted," it continued.
The press release concluded by stating that the HCAO "will provide updates on additional disclosures and impacted cases as our review continues."
The Daily Caller noted that a spokesperson for the Minneapolis FBI refused to confirm or deny that Lanterman is the subject of an investigation.
Lanterman: "I stand by the truth of my background and credentials"
For his part, Lanterman defended the veracity of his credentials and denied wrongdoing during a recent interview with Fox 9.
"My work and background have been scrutinized countless times in an adversarial setting," the technology expert was quoted as saying. "It is the nature of the work that I and the company do. I stand by the truth of my background and credentials."
Yet the Daily Caller pointed out how Lanterman's biography has been scrubbed from CFS' official website despite appearing on an achieved page.
