The Trump administration is well into its White House stint, and it's still making power moves that drive Democrats absolutely insane.

The latest example, as reported by the Washington Examiner, is the promotion of an IRS whistleblower who was pivotal in helping Republicans open an investigation into Hunter Biden.

According to the outlet, IRS Supervisory Special Agent Gary Shapley, the whistleblower who blew the Biden case wide open, will soon be the acting commissioner of the IRS.

The promotion is already sending Democrats and their mainstream media allies into a frenzy.

What's happening?

The promotion for Shapley is definitely an honor, but also somewhat symbolic, as Republican Rep. Billy Long will hopefully soon lead the IRS as its commissioner. Long was selected by President Trump to lead the agency, but hasn't been confirmed in the Senate yet.

The move comes at a time when the IRS is undergoing a major restructuring thanks in part to recommendations from Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Shapley's promotion to acting commissioner was well received by the U.S Treasury.

"Gary has proven his honesty and devotion to enforcing the law without fear or favor, even at great cost to his own career," the Treasury said of Shapely's promotion in a statement. “He’ll be a great asset to the IRS as we rethink and reform this crucial organization."

Shapley's lawyer added, "Couldn’t think of a single better person, both as a dedicated leader and as a whistleblower who has seen the agency’s weaknesses and had the courage to speak up about them."

Social media reacts

Users across social media reacted to the news.

"Good! Having the integrity, honor and courage to speak out against corruption are very important qualifications! These are the kind of people we need to recognize and reward! Congrats, Mr. Shapley," one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "I don’t know what his post was before, but I like that we have an honest person in the position now."
