Trump addresses Biden autopen in Fox News interview
President Donald Trump offered his thoughts on whether First Lady Jill Biden was her husband's autopen and the real person running the White House during an exclusive Fox Noticias interview on Wednesday with host Rachel Campos-Duffy.
"Was Jill running the White House?" Campos-Duffy asked.
"No, I don't think so," Trump said, but qualified the statement by saying "she was certainly involved because he gave her the last meeting to preside over with the Cabinet."
"It's all yours, kid"
Trump referred to a controversial meeting in September 2024 during which Biden spoke to the cabinet for two minutes and then said, "It's all yours, kid" to Jill and let her take over.
At that point, Jill Biden was sitting at the head of the table, where the President usually sits. She read from a binder about women's health at that point, and Biden justified it at the time by saying that she had come just to talk about that issue.
"Here and across previous administrations, first ladies have attended these meetings for specific reasons. This is the first time Jill has joined us, and it goes to show how important the issue is, which she is about to speak to," he said.
But social media had a field day with the optics, which made it look like the first lady was more in charge of things than he was.
"A lot of bad people"
Trump said that it wasn't just his wife who had too much power in the administration, but the far-left radicals in the Democrat party.
"They [the Biden administration] had a lot of bad people. They had a lot of radical left lunatics in there, and I think he was perfect. He was perfect for them because he didn't have a clue," Trump said.
Despite many assurances that Biden was functioning well cognitively, reports began trickling out as soon as he left office that he had been in decline for pretty much his whole presidency.
In contrast, Trump sailed through his recent physical, which included a cognitive test that Biden (and Vice President Kamala Harris) refused to take at all.
"Got every question right"
"I was there for a long time," Trump said. "I think I did very well."
He also boasted that he "got every question right" on the cognitive test.
The White House expects to release the complete details of Trump's exam by Sunday.
